Bill Kimmel follows up on his two earlier in the year with a third one here, lapping the field, to kick off the new championship battle but it would turn out to be his last ARCA win as a driver. The series took a break of over four months after this one until its next race at Daytona during Speedweeks the following February. Wow, I never thought I would see the day that ARCA results on this website stretched back into the 1970s. Thank you again to Charles and our webmaster for their hard work to bring this almost forgotten era of stock car racing back into the limelight. 2. However apparently ARCA has them officially as DNSs, and I've never been sure what distinguishes a DNS from a withdrawal anyway. Apparently in either case the car did qualify for the race, then something happened and the car didn't take the green flag. 4. Ive always been curious as to why during the late 70s-early 80s ARCA ran so little races, but I can never find anything on why 11. Started to get in financial trouble and could only rely on the Daytona & Talladega race dates plus a handful of nearby short tracks. Bottomed out in 1981 before the France family stepped in to help and sponsored the series via the Talladega Superspeedway. That allowed the series to work on scheduling a few more races and sanction/co-sanction other events with USAC or what would become the Busch series, and it slowly rebounded from there. 13.
