Rezek was able to pass Lake Speed, who had a flat tire, between pit entrance and the start finish line and won the race. 5. Photos and a radio call of the finish can be found at this link: http://racersreunion.com/community/forum/stock-car-racing-history/21244/1980-arca-200-at-daytona I'm not sure of the reason behind it, but Lake Speed and his team were understandably mad. 7. This would be Speed's only ARCA start. 8. Jeff posted: 03.20.2020 - 3:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 1981 Daytona 500 program lists margin of victory as 2 car lengths. Use whichever is suitable I guess. 9. His Olds was dominate car in the race itself and he led more than half of the laps run Fiuntil his engine failed and it sent him to the sidelines. Finney would be badly injured in a crash here at Daytona during the Firecracker 400 later in the year and only made one further ARCA attempt when he failed to qualify for this race in 1981. 10. rm posted: 06.06.2020 - 10:52 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) 32 sponsor - LaFlam's Auto Parts A Finney wouldn't start another ARCA race until 2012, when Phil's nephew Brian made his first start in the series. Phil does still hold the family record for the best finish in the series with 2nd, though Brian's best run of a 3rd isn't that far behind. Fred Zack ran the last half of the race with a ton of damage to the right front corner of his car, albeit 8 laps down by the checkered flag. Zack had a long-stretching career, and his final ARCA start was a 1-lap deal at Chicagoland in 2003. Fittingly the driver who finished right behind him in that race was also competing in Speedweeks 1980 - the one and only James Hylton. 11. rm posted: 07.24.2020 - 7:31 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) 65 status - bearing 98 status - fuel line 12.
