Bob Schacht scores the first of his 17 ARCA victories in dominant
fashion as he takes the lead in the opening laps when Marvin Smith broke
and then buries the field by a full four laps. This was ARCA's final
race at Illiana Motor Speedway in Indiana.

DNQ/WD:
Sal Tovella

With an off week for the USAC boys between races at Milwaukee and
Springfield, Tovella was entered here but didn't start the show. It
would have been Tovella's only ARCA start on a track under a mile in
length, having mostly attempted races at Milwaukee, Michigan and Daytona
while in ARCA.

Apparently during this race a transformer caught on fire and knocked out
the lighting on the backstretch for a little while.
This race was closer than the margin of victory indicated, Bob Dotter
was running second when he had a tire go flat with about ten laps to go.
