Several drivers were sent packing, including two-time series winner Billie Harvey and popular ex-track champion (and future Cup star) Sterling Marlin. That's where it starts to get a little messy though. In qualifying, Harvey won the pole, but packed up and had to leave when the race was postponed. Without finding a pole speed, can't say for sure who was credited with it officially, it looks like Bob Schacht (who rolled off 1st) is given the pole based off of these records though. 4 owner - Ferrel Harris 29 owner - Donald Green 78 owner - Ferrel Harris 4 make - Dodge Not sure of the story behind Harris fielding cars for a pair of local drivers, though from an interview Steve Spencer did the week of the race it sounded like Spencer borrowed a car from Harris and staffed it with his usual weekly crew. Local star David Sisco had been retired since 1978 but donned his helmet and firesuit once again to take on the ARCA field right in his backyard. Sisco went out and finished one lap down in 7th, the second-best of the area drivers in the field to only Wayne Carden. Marlin should be removed from the DNQ list. 3. He had a commitment to compete in an All-Pro race the same day this race ended up being run. http://www.midwestracingarchives.com/2018/10/1981-schacht-score-arca-win-at-nashville.html 4. rm posted: 07.24.2020 - 7:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) There were 5 cautions, unsure on any kind of lap count though. 5.
