Don't have laps unfortunately. The first caution was triggered when a slowing Craig Jackson blew an engine as the leaders were coming around to start lapping the tail of the pack on lap 15. And in typical Winchester fashion, things happen fast - especially wrecks. The top five runners of Bob Dotter, Scott Stovall, Marvin Smith, Larry Moyer and Lee Raymond all piled in as Jackson spun in his own oil, collecting lappers Gordon Blankenship and Darrell Basham as well. Tough way for Basham to go on hiatus, being collected in a wreck with a third of the field. After a brief red flag the field got going again. Well, for a little while anyway. Until the leaders all wrecked again. Lapper Rick Roland spun in turn 1 on lap 51 and collected leader Bobby Jacks as well as second place Bill Green. Marvin Smith, originally caught in the first wreck, skated on by and inherited the lead. Green had apparently been sick and when he came down pit road to have the crew fix the damage on his car, he had a relief driver step in - Joe Raymond, father and car owner of fellow ARCA competitor Lee Raymond. Joe, 58, had been out of the seat of an ARCA car for nearly 3 years and actually had won the last race he took the green flag in, at Winchester's sister track of Dayton. The lack of seat time for the elder Raymond showed as he spun out not long after retaking the green flag, opting to park Green's car rather than inflict more damage. The race ended under caution when Tracy Read crashed with three laps left, though he still did pick up a top ten. The late Read had four top tens in ARCA, and he crashed out in two of those. 25 make - Buick DNQs: Jim Vaughan Jr. Stuart Huffman First ARCA race at Winchester since the 60s, apparently part of the promotions to draw fans to the gates was to give away 100 tickets to one of the three other ARCA races happening later on in the month. Not to the race at Terre Haute (!) on the other side of the state, but to Talladega. I can't imagine that many people would have made the trek from Indiana down to Alabama just for the support race, sure hope they were planning on going to the Cup race the next day too. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
