The Kenny Adams from this race was from Willowick, Ohio and competed on the ASA tour as well as other more regional late model tours from the 1970s to mid 1990s. 2. rm posted: 06.10.2020 - 6:40 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) 71 status - head gasket The lone victory of Scott Stovall's championship season came in the season finale, and after he had already clinched the title no less. It came in one of the leanest years for the series, which does explain the outcome to some degree. Regardless, Stovall closed the 1982 season as a winner and the champion. He'd only win one other race in his career as he competed relatively regularly for the rest of the decade. After a pair of spot starts while partnering with Mike Buckley, Stovall retired as a driver but remains involved with the series still to this day as an official. As best as I can tell, the only winless champion in the series to date was Bob Dotter in 1980, though with 7 top fives in the 9 races held that year Dotter was able to decisively win the title. More intriguing was the fact that he's not credited with leading any laps that year. This currently shows the qualifying results as "no time trials" and I can't find any possible evidence of a qualifying results sheet, but they did at the least run their regular heat races. Bobby Jacks, Gordon Blankenship and Marvin Smith won their respective preliminary heats. It looks like they did line them up by driver points, though if they rolled off like that for the heats or the feature I'm unaware. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
