This victory helped put him on the radar of NASCAR teams and effectively launched his high-level racing career. Wilson still has the trophy from this win. 3. I have full race rundowns of the 1979 season. I believe Rick Wilson was close to selling the car he used to win this race, but then decided to run Daytona. 8.
