He actually hit so hard that the roll bars in his car were shattered and he went THROUGH the windshield. Lyndon was critically injured in the accident and died about 30 minutes after the accident. 8. Stuart Lyndon was the second ARCA driver to die in 1985 in a horrific accident where he was ejected from the car after Francis Affleck's horrible wreck in practice at Daytona. Lyndon was by all counts a man who loved racing. His car was an ex-Kyle Petty Ford he customized. 9. 23andJoe posted: 04.24.2014 - 4:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Pole speed: 166.203mph 10. 23andJoe posted: 04.24.2014 - 7:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #61 was a Pontiac. 11. riven3d posted: 06.09.2014 - 1:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 500k race it was 204 laps at 310.5 miles 12. Lyndon was running well. In the top 10 in 6th place. When on the backstretch coming off turn 2 he went into a spin. Instead of nailing the gas pedal. Lyndon hit the brakes. And the car shot across head on into the inside dirt bank. The A pillars of the roof gave in. And Lyndon's harness also failed. As the car impaled the dirt. He was thrown through the windshield onto what was left of the engine compartment. A very similar scene to Elliott Sadler's Pocono crash in 2008. However. Sadly. Stuart Lyndon was not as lucky. Dying instantly of Massive brain and neck injuries. He was 34 years old 14. He drove a Chevrolet Cautions: 8 for 60 laps Lap leaders (incomplete) Mike Alexander - 88 Trevor Boys - 66 Davey Allison - 3 Mike Alexander had a 10 second lead and the race in hand when a caution flew on lap 200. With 3 laps to go, Alexander pitted under caution because of two broken studs on his left rear wheel and 3 loose lug nuts. 17. rm posted: 06.12.2020 - 10:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) WD: Rick Wilson, #6 Murphy Chevy Chevrolet (Rick Wilson) Red Farmer, #97 Corvin Racing Chevrolet (Jerry Corvin) Wilson had started the first three races of the season, not sure why he skipped Talladega and then Atlanta. Also unsure for Farmer's reason to even enter, at this point in his career the only series races he was (usually) entering were the superspeedways. 18. Lyndon's accident is shown, but from the camera, you can barely see what's going on except for dirt flying from the impact and the rollback taking what's left of the car away. It's around forty minutes in. https://youtu.be/JkAbiBCwpqQ 19. Love to see so much info being able to be filled in, and even more so that it was a race won by a fallen legend like Davey Allison. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
