At this point in time the track was .600 miles. The .375 mile layout was
not introduced until 1989.

mark Gibson drove a car that was a back up for another team and thus had
the original number on the roof (3), and number 90 on the side. ARCA
approved the #90 on the sides only.

Following this race, ARCA drivers and officials joined a caravan of
trucks driving down to South Carolina with bales of hay to aid farmers
stuck in a drought. Dean Roper spearheaded the effort and donated 300
bales of hay himself.

Drake started 3rd
Pearson started 11th

The source for that also claims this was a dirt half-mile track.
According to the ever-trusty Wikipedia article for Owosso, the track was
a half mile from 1946 until 1988, and was dirt from 1946 until 1972,
then paved until 1983, then dirt again until 1988, then paved again
after 1989. Based on that information, and knowing nothing else about
Owosso otherwise, I would say that it's highly unlikely the track was a
.600 mile paved oval at the time.

Kris Patterson was on the pole in what would be the only time he takes
the green flag in his ARCA career. His run lasted all of 14 laps, ouch.

The track was most definitely .600 mile dirt oval at the time. It was
advertised as a "half mile" colloquially
