Tracy Read was killed in an accident during this race.

Read spun and slammed head on into the inside dirt bank while trying to
avoid Kirk Bryant, who had spun and slapped the outside wall. He died
instantly of massive head and abdominal injuries. Likely from being
thrown forward in the seat

A NSSN report I have mentions the steering column in Read's car being
broken, and it having to do with fatal injuries.

The pileup occurred in the spring race, this was the summer event that
was held.
