With the Monte Carlo being retired and the Lumina still only on the horizon some thought NASCAR teams would need to use the Beretta in the interim so there was a lot of interest from Cup teams about Raymond's new ride. The car was very aerodynamic and very fast, Raymond would continue to use it throughout 1988. 2. 23andJoe posted: 04.29.2014 - 2:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #77 sponsor: ??? Qualifying was partially rained out, resulting in a lot of cars with good speed qualifying outside the top 22 that did manage to put up a speed before the storms hit. I can only assume more good cars were littered among the DNQ list that could have been a race itself. Source: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/237898017/ 5.
