Patty Moise makes her ARCA debut and immediately makes her presence known by winning the pole. Mechanical problems doomed her chances for a good finish early. 2. This was when he was 56 or so (he actually has no clue when he was born). 3. 23andJoe posted: 05.01.2014 - 11:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Pole speed: 192.827mph Margin of victory: Under caution #01 sponsor: Gibbs-West Tractor #01 owner: Don Gibbs #06 owner: Wayne Peterson #28 owner: Davey Allison #37 owner: Patty Moise #40 owner: Ben Hess (same for all races this season) #39 owner: Blackie Wangerin #54 owner: Elmer Simko (same for all races this season) #73 owner: Dennis Langston #92 owner: Lucky Compton #28 crew chief: Davey Allison #28 winnings: $12,525 #2 winnings: $8,320 #11 winnings: $5,200 #92 winnings: $4,000 #5 winnings: $3,800 #34 winnings: $3,200 #56 winnings: $2,800 #72 winnings: $2,600 #51 winnings: $2,650 #50 winnings: $2,700 #3 winnings: $2,200 #73 winnings: $2,100 #0 winnings: $2,100 #01 winnings: $1,950 #29 winnings: $2,150 #00 winnings: $1,800 #54 winnings: $1,900 #36 winnings: $1,700 #85 winnings: $1,650 #68 winnings: $1,600 #97 winnings: $1,500 #8 winnings: $1,600 #55 winnings: $1,275 #39 winnings: $1,225 #71 winnings: $1,335 #6 winnings: $1,100 #77 winnings: $1,100 #66 winnings: $900 #89 winnings: $880 #06 winnings: $860 #40 winnings: $840 #16 winnings: $1,220 #24 winnings: $800 #12 winnings: $780 #1 winnings: $960 #7 winnings: $740 #70 winnings: $720 #60 winnings: $710 #25 winnings: $1,155 #9 winnings: $700 #37 winnings: $1,200 #31 winnings: $700 4. 23andJoe posted: 05.01.2014 - 11:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Oops: #31 sponsor: Gibbs-West Tractor #31 owner: Don Gibbs #01 is correct as listed. Gibbs' team /normally/ had the #01, but here Bowsher's team with Larry Moore had the number. 5. 23andJoe posted: 05.04.2014 - 6:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #6 owner: Dave Tomczak 6. Moise hung tough early and ran second in the early laps. Gary Weinbroer and Mike Oliver brought out the day's first yellow with a two-car incident on the backstretch. Weinbroer car suffered notable damage but both continued. 9. Adcox lost control and spun his Oldsmobile through his pit box, knocking down one of his crew members and destroying an air hose. Farmer got a big advantage leaving the pits because of it only for Adcox to immediately catch up when Paul Hansen looped it and crashed on the backstrech, bringing out a caution. The race was shaping up to be a Farmer v. Adcox showdown until Don LaDuke crashed off turn 4 in the closing laps, spinning several times and bringing out the final caution. LaDuke pulled his car off the racing surface and the pair did race back to the line with Farmer holding off Adcox' final attack. The victory was Davey Allison's first victory as an ARCA team owner. He also served as Farmer's crew chief for this race. 10. rm posted: 07.13.2017 - 11:41 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) First caution - laps 2-6 - 06, 70, 89 accident backstretch Second caution - laps 14-17 - 9, 37 oil on track Third caution - laps 20-22 - 9 oil on track Fourth caution - laps 30-32 - debris turn 2 Fifth caution - laps 75-78 - 24 accident backstretch Sixth caution - laps 105-109 - 66, 71 accident trioval Seventh caution - laps 114-117 - 77 accident turn 4 11. He'd bounce back to win the July race here though. 14. They put a new Chevrolet body on the car and borrowed an engine from Davey's father Bobby Allison, the same engine Bobby used to win the Daytona Busch race earlier in the year as it happened, and Farmer went out and won the race with the car nobody seemed to want. 15. rm posted: 08.17.2020 - 7:34 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) 25 crew chief - Cathy Venturini 66 sponsor - Tucker Trucking #72 was unsponsored 66 owner - Ray Tucker 70 owner - JD McDuffie 97 owner - Drew White Adcox was very much bailed out by the caution for Paul Hansen's crash, as Adcox had a slight tire rub from where he made contact with his pit crew member & air hose and also would have been running rather low on fuel by that point in the green flag run. Clay Young also had a very fast piece, making up a lap under green in a black-and-silver car dubbed a Dale Earnhardt lookalike by the broadcasters - with a comeback for a top five finish, he drove like Earnhardt as well. This race featured rather low attrition both mechanically and crash-wise for the era, as the rash of early cautions were mostly for incidents that were only terminal for a single car at the time. They didn't crash too hard until the very end, with Donnie LaDuke's accident coming late enough at the end that they didn't get a chance to go back green and wreck any cars. The 28 cars running at the end was supposedly a series record - depending on how much faith you put into the series' results at Talladega in the 1970s - that wouldn't be topped until 30 cars finished here in one of the two 1993 races. And if they thought Red Farmer was old here...he went out with a top five and two top tens in his pair of ARCA starts in 2004, 16 years after this race! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
