He would die in a racing accident during the next day's NASCAR Winston Cup race. Slick Johnson tallies his last top-10 in his sadly penultimate ARCA race. It was his only start of the 1989 season. 4. 23andJoe posted: 05.08.2014 - 8:03 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Pole speed: 175.756 mph Ernie Irvan's winnings: $11,650 #18 owner: Mark Smith 5. 23andJoe posted: 05.10.2014 - 6:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #11 crew chief: Norman Negre #04 sponsor: Dahlgrew Chevrolet #0 sponsor: R.W. It seems like the NASCAR guys didn't really pay attention to ARCA much back then. ESPN did mention that Bob Kesolowski won the Championship but only in passing. You'd have thought that they might have interviewed him or shown a clip of the race, but they seemed uninterested. 8. rm posted: 01.02.2019 - 7:05 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) 1 owner - Jim Coyle DNQ: Lee Raymond in a Chevy owned by Mike Fry The Bowsher team ran a 1989 car in this race for the first time. They were finally able to jettison a pair of older chassis that they had been running throughout the year that had been built in 1972! The "new" car was a short track car though and Bobby Bowsher never was super competitive in the early going here before he blew an engine. 9. Irvan's victory here in a very likely ex-Winston Cup Pontiac Grand Prix would eventually turn out to be the team's only win in a major stock car race even if it did become a regular entrant in NASCAR Winston Cup during the early to mid-1990s. Irvan was a Cup regular at the time of his ARCA one-off. 13. Brevak's hopes for the championship though ended up dashed when his #34 broke down before the halfway mark, sending him to the garage. Keselowski meanwhile finished just outside the top-10 as swung the battle in his favor to win his only ARCA championship by a final margin of 65 points. 14. rm posted: 11.01.2020 - 6:43 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Margin of victory: 20 seconds Sponsors: 08 - Southern Machine Products 1 - Ronald Moran Productions 5 - Young Racing 8 - Active Auto Sales 13 - Baker Driving School 21 - Garland-Gehrke Trucking/E&C Supplies 22 - Mr. J's Steakhouse 23 - TSR Enterprises 24 - Alliance Training Centers 32 - Super Skate 40 - GM Performance Parts 46 - Daily Fruit Juices 53 - Kosiski Auto Parts 54 - Tom Company/Simko Racing 57 - Joe Harrison Motorsports 59 - John Collins Racing 62 - FCS/Kenny Lindley Racing 69 - War Eagle Construction 87 - Anbro Electric 93 - Sundance/J&G Trucking 99 - James Stepp Racing Owners: 08 - Peter Sospenzo 13 - Buck Baker 24 - John McFadden 62 - Kenny Lindley 99 - Buddy Arrington 08 status - oil line ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
