Mark Gibson missed this race after his sponsor bailed on him, ending his
title run. He wouldn't return until Talladega, having switched from
Pontiac to Oldsmobile hoping for aerodynamic advantage.

Indeed. Bobby Bowsher's fourth here was the best finish for a T-bird in
these races.
