Former IMSA champion and CART race winner John Paul, Jr. makes his lone
ARCA start and finishes on the podium. Paul made a go at stock car
racing in 1991 running this race and two Cup races later in the year,
including the July race at Pocono that followed this one, for Martin
Birrane's Team Ireland.

Actually that was in an ARCA exhibition race in 1986.

Ray Evernham planned to enter this race (or the other 1991 Pocono ARCA
race) as a driver, making his ARCA debut. While he prepared a car for
this event some bad short track wrecks earlier in the season, and a
feeling he wasn't the same driver after coming back from them before
getting hurt again, led to him hanging up the helmet on his goals of
racing professionally.
