I don't remember much aside from that. 7. Tide1732 posted: 06.16.2017 - 6:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Probably the best surprise ARCA win ever. 8. The only other Chrysler model used in Cup, IIRC, was the 300 in the 1950s. So the Imperial was likely what was used in ARCA a few years after it was gone from Cup (much like how some Dodges were still running in ARCA after they left Cup in 2012.) 12. NASCAR wouldn't allow them though because they have a narrow front end and they wouldn't let Chrysler widen it. 13. rm posted: 07.01.2020 - 9:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) It was indeed a LeBaron, there was an article on the ARCA site last year prior to the last race that Dodges were eligible in - for now, anyway - that also discussed the other Mopar brands' history in the series. While Bob Keselowski wasn't the only one to run a LeBaron, he was easily the most prominent and won his final six races in the car, more or less becoming synonymous with Chrysler in the series. Roger Blackstock was similarly associated with his Dodge Avenger during this time as well, though he was never close to as successful in the series as Bob K was. Beyond Blackstock, Joey Miller also ran a car stickered up as an Avenger for one race with Batman on the hood. Pretty sure Miller's was just a Charger with different decals, I don't think a steel gen-4 body in the style of the Avenger was ever made an option for teams to run. 14. The car looked cool and several drivers ran them in the series with some success. It became one of the more famous and memorable ARCA cars of the period because despite its winning pedigree it never made the jump up into NASCAR action at any level. 15. zuel660 posted: 07.02.2020 - 6:48 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The early 90s would have been a prime time for ChryCo to jump into Nascar, as Buick and Oldsmobile would soon be departing, and teams were mostly independent of one another. Nascar rules also seemed to work against the Mopar contingent in terms of car model approval. Alas, one would have to wait until 2001 to see Dodge once again compete in the Cup Series. 16. Interestingly, they were a sweep of the Michigan races in 1991, and both were with different drivers getting what would turn out to be their only career wins in the series. 17. The Cordoba had aged out of being eligible for running in ARCA, but Brad Smith got this wild hair brain to call the car a Dodge Diplomat and bring it to the Michigan race. When they got to the track, ARCA President Bob Loga saw the car, shook his head and said "Diplomat, eh?", then walked away. But they let it run. It was originally Brad himself driving, it was numbered 40, but they didn't make the race on speed. Joe Booher had a provisional to use, so they turned the 0 to a 3 and Joe started the race. The race was delayed by rain after 16 laps, after which Brad got in the car and finished the race. Even more interesting note on the car, it was the same car Richard Petty won the 1974 Daytona 500 with, when it was ACTUALLY a Dodge. (Petty sold it to Buddy Arrington, who would go on to put Chrysler sheet metal on it, then later sold it to Smith.) From this, should add as DNQ Brad Smith | 40 | | Brad Smith | Dodge(?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_FC3CAXFN0&t=758s 18. Danish_Pie posted: 09.13.2021 - 7:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Brad Smith's DNQ manufacturer was Chrysler, same car that Joe Booher started. (Put 'Dodge(?)' in previous comment cause I wasn't sure if Booher's manufacturer would be updated. Sorry for not explaining that.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
