Future Winston Cup standout Jeremy Mayfield scores his lone ARCA victory
as part of his only full season of racing in the series. Mayfield's
victory also helped propel him to ARCA Rookie of the Year status for the
season...which is quirky as Tim Steele won the championship that year
also running as a rookie.

Dave Weltmeyer, running a part-time schedule, dominated the race from
the pole. He led every lap until a mechanical issue in the closing laps
ended his day and opened the door for Mayfield's triumph.
