He responded by winning the weekend's ARCA support race, which was televised by TBS. 2. I believe this was the scheduled ARCA road race to be held at the Syracuse (NY) Fairgrounds on a temporary circuit fashioned out of the fairgrounds roads, parking lots and remnants of an interstate highway in the area. If memory serves, the race was scheduled for the summer of '96; I'd read some about it at the time. However, the race was ultimately cancelled, to become a footnote in motorsports lore. 3. I found a post in Google Groups dated June 10th, 1996 by ARCA driver Mike Buckley, who stated that he'd read of the cancellation the week prior (so the first week of June). I guess two weeks was too short of a notice to pick up a new sponsor? 14. 48johnsonfan posted: 09.04.2018 - 11:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Full Race is on YouTube! 15. The Bowsher's Quality Farm & Fleet sponsorship deal fell apart earlier in the season but I guess it's possible they hadn't taken the branding off the other car, making this technically their last race for the farm store chain. Might explain why Todd was so quick to park it too. 22. rm posted: 03.19.2021 - 7:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ah. I couldn't spot the car in its brief time on track in the race footage and was just going off of what was listed on the results printout - which isn't exactly infallible, admittedly. By the look of it, all of the cars that finished outside of the top 25 here save for Perry Tripp were backups from some of the regular teams. The number of entrants for the Pocono races have been all over the place through the years, the race being extended to 250 miles may have played some small part in this case. And on a related note to that, this was the only one of the six 400-km/250-mi/100-lap ARCA races at Pocono that Tim Steele did not win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
