Thank you for catching that error. 3. RaceFanX posted: 01.24.2012 - 7:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Mark Thompson's first ARCA race since his horrible wreck at Atlanta the previous March. 4. Too bad his special run only lasted 41 laps. http://www.greensboro.com/father-races-to-honor-dead-son-thad-coleman-competes-in/article_a2824f79-477b-51c4-92c1-9ef73e21e239.html 10. Gibson slammed the turn 4 wall and skidded down the track at high speed into the inside wall, tearing a wheel off the #59. Fedewa was in 2nd place late in the race when he blew a tire in turn 2 and slammed the wall, causing a fire to break out. His #83 skidded down the backstretch and spun hard into the inside wall as well. Neither driver suffered any major injuries. 11. rm posted: 05.30.2017 - 12:09 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) First caution - laps 5-11 - 06, 28, 85 accident turn 4 (They wrecked in turn 2 trying to slow down for the yellow too - multiple cars were involved, and the 57 was done for the day after making contact with the wall) Second caution - laps 30-40 - 59 accident turn 4 Third caution - laps 45-47 - 66 accident trioval Fourth caution - laps 68-73 - 15 accident trioval Fifth caution - laps 74-81 - 5, 16, 33, 45, 80 accident trioval (The 80 hit the wall head on and still finished 9th on the lead lap! A few cars wrecked on the restart, including the 3 and 46, but no caution waved for the accident that ended the 3's day.) Sixth caution - laps 101-107 - 83 accident backstretch 45 crew chief - Kyle Petty 3 sponsor - Hurley Limo 28 sponsor - R & B Steel Steele by far had the best car all day, frequently being able to break away in a small group by 7, 9, and 13 seconds ahead of much of the rest of the pack at various times during the race. Only Hutter and Fedewa could keep up - not even being involved in a big wreck could slow Steele's frantic charge through the field. ESPN reported 6 cautions for 38 laps. If this is correct, then the second caution only lasted from laps 30-37. The Youtube video of this race doesn't show the restart so I'm not sure exactly when the caution period ended. 12. RaceFanX posted: 02.09.2020 - 2:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The closing laps of this race were a de facto one-on-one battle of experience vs. youth with Tim Steele going against Matt Hutter. Hutter was making his only ARCA start of the year and looking to redeem himself after his stint in the NASCAR Busch Series earlier in the year failed. Steele had the lead and a fast car, blocking every move Hutter tried, en route to the win. Hutter's runner-up run would be his best ARCA finish although he'd match it later. Steele's win here was his third in a row for the annual ARCA race at Talladega. He won this one driving an outdated Ford Thunderbird. While Steele never won at Daytona he won four races here at Talladega with this as his last win here. 15.
