His only further ARCA appearance was a DNQ later in the year at Talladega. 5. rm posted: 11.12.2018 - 11:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 0 owner - Wayne Peterson 38 owner - Tony Quarles 75 owner - Drew White 6. rm posted: 11.12.2018 - 11:15 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) More info: 67 DNF reason - engine Tony Quarles spun in practice and again in qualifying. He then managed to top that by being the reason for 5 of the 7 cautions during the race, thanks to his inability to keep the car pointed straight! With all that being said, it's certainly impressive he could still finish 16th in the race. 7. Notable crew chiefs mentioned on the broadcast: 5 - Billy Gerhart 21 - Jack Bowsher 25 - Bill Venturini 44 - Lee Leslie 46 - Bill Kimmel Jr. 67 - Tom Sokoloski With a rainstorm hitting during the middle of qualifying, the last 13 starters on the grid opted not to attempt a lap when the session resumed. Mark Gibson was one of the few that did go out there, but was only 16th out of 19 cars that recorded a time. Tony Quarles' rough race was just as bad as advertised. 7 spins in a weekend is not good, no matter how you try to spin it or how many times he got dumped. Definitely surprised he was able to roll home just 10 laps down, especially given the overall lack of cautions. This race featured the fewest cautions in a short track race since Berlin in 2003, no doubt aided by the relatively short field that featured a handful of very early S&P-jobs. The 2003 edition of this race featured 15 cautions, so this would be a welcome change of pace. The next short track race with fewer than this event's 7 cautions wouldn't be until Berlin (again) in 2007. 10.
