That count includes a big wreck on lap 36 that started when Walt Brannen got loose on the inside of Tandy Marlin coming through turn 2 and went for a single-car (at that moment) spin. Brannen chased it down the track and onto the apron, where an unfortunate Frank Kimmel had moved down to in order to avoid Brannen's car. The two made hard contact, sending Brannen back up the track. Brannen escaped any further hits, but a bizarre scene unfolded behind him as drivers scattered to avoid him. Tim Steele, in his first start in over a year, was hit by Bryan Gandy, who was making his series debut. Gandy climbed over Steele's car and sent him airborne in spectacular fashion, but got stuck mid-launch and found himself in a pose that looked like someone hit pause halfway through an action movie scene. Gandy came perilously close to flipping over, but ultimately remained stationary right on top of Steele's door. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
