ARCA had Gerhart as the listed owner for these #5 and #7 races. Unlike NASCAR, ARCA has a strict rule where one number can only have one official car owner during the season, and still count for the same number for owner points. There's no "owner A takes over points from owner B", officially. ARCA recognized Gerhart as the owner for these, that's what the results should reflect. 6. Gerhart was the "owner" only because Hendrick paid him to sign the entry form. 9. 23andJoe posted: 09.03.2015 - 11:50 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) >ARCA has a strict rule where one number can only have one official car owner during the season, and still count for the same number for owner points. There's no "owner A takes over points from owner B", officially. And while that's their rule, we should reflect who the owner /actually/ was, like how Ted Musgrave's Cup starts in the #16 list Jack Roush as owner instead of Geoff Smith. 10. It was a one-off deal between members of Woodland's team and Jay Adamczyk himself. Obviously, this made the team the envy of many throughout the ARCA and NASCAR garages. The bigger talk was 4 Cup-team-affiliated drivers sweeping the top 4 spots. Hendrick had Feese, Ganassi had Sorenson and Hemphill, and Gibbs had Hamlin. Only Sorenson and Hamlin would go on to get significant looks in NASCAR and clearly Hamlin has had the most success by far. I have no idea if Jim Walker's car was a true Peterson effort or not. 18. Plus Talladega always drew guys out of the woodwork. 20. rm posted: 01.29.2019 - 3:40 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) 08 sponsor - Defiant Clothing/Heathcliff 24 sponsor - ALGOA/ABM 06 owner - Stephen Smith 24 owner - Andy Belmont (this race only) 99 owner - Beth Ann Morgenthau (Ken Schrader talked about BAM working to field a second car more often in 2005 for Graf, but after a Cup DNQ the next week at Martinsville, Graf wouldn't return to BAM until 2007) Some crew chiefs courtesy of the broadcast: 06 - Freddie Fryar 08 - Jeff McClure (same all 2004) 5 - David Leiner 7 - Billy Gerhart 10 - Steve Addington 11 - Cal Boprey (same all 2004) 21 - Jack Bowsher (same all 2004) 25 - Bill Venturini 44 - Lee Leslie (same all 2004) 46 - Bill Kimmel Jr. (Same all 2004) 59 - Dennis Pulte (same all 2004) 64 - Greg Tester 67 - Tom Sokoloski (Same all 2004) 77 - Brian Pattie 84 - Linda Nicholas (same all 2004) 94 - Gary DeHart 99 - Joey Cudmore Jim Walker info sourced from here - http://web.archive.org/web/20041016191612/http://jimwalker74.com/thecrew.htm Reed Sorenson's crew nicknamed themselves "G-Unit" which is probably the most 2004 thing ever and also probably the only time G-Unit was ever referenced on the SPEED Channel. 21. Hemphill ran 14 races in 2004 and had nine top-5s from that effort including six wins earlier in the year. Hemphill, a Ganassi development driver at the time, would move on from ARCA to take a stab at the NASCAR Busch series in 2005 but would struggle after the change. 22. RaceFanX posted: 10.16.2020 - 10:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) This was the end of the road for "Dusty," the first in-house chassis Rick Hendrick's team ever built. Famously its first appearance saw Greg Sacks place second with it here at Talladega in a Cup race in 1990 before wrecking it at Daytona that July after starting on the pole. The car, which was still owned by Bobby Gerhart at this time, was rebuilt several times through 14 years of racing and ultimately had its final ride here with Hendrick development driver Boston Reid at the wheel of it as his #7 ditech.com Chevrolet. It's racing days ended in the crash late in this one when Reid got into Billy Venturini and both ended up in the outside wall in turn 4. Hendrick recognized the historical value of the car, buying it back from Gerhart and restoring it to original condition for display in his museum afterward. Venturini had a cool looking car, his #25 had a throwback livery recreating the white and red 1980s Amoco racers his dad Bill Venturini and the all-female pit crew took to a championship. His car was a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
