Wow. Almost half the race under caution. Is that why ARCA only came to
this track once?

I don't know. ARCA can become a wreckfest anywhere, probably had more to
do with sanctioning fees or low attendance or something.

As Eric said, this is the only (at least post-1996) ARCA race to be held
at Lanier, a track that formerly hosted the NASCAR Busch Grand National
series.

Ronnie Hornaday finishes 8th in his final major stock car race (He did
attempt a Truck race later in the year but DNQed). It was his lone
top-10 in ARCA.

This race more or less put David Ragan on the map, and led to increased
attention among team owners. Robert Yates had taken an interest in Ragan
earlier in the season, providing engines for Wayne Day's team, but that
had been the extent of the scouting. Ragan wound up being selected as
one of the drivers to compete in the Roush Racing "Gong Show"
competition later in the summer and was one of the top runner-ups,
leading to a meteoric rise that quickly landed him in a part-time Roush
truck ride in 2006 as the heir apparent to Mark Martin.
