Josh Krug stalled his 74 car on the access road and ended up trapping the three fastest cars in the early part of the race (Coleman, Crocker and Lagasse) one and two laps down as the rest of the top 10 opted to push their fuel window. On the ensuing restart, Coleman and Crocker managed to get their laps back while then leader Frank Kimmel had his hands full with hard-driving Matt Hagans, and a quick caution came out. Cautions breeded cautions afterwards, allowing Coleman to slowly climb through the field while Kimmel could never manage to break away from Hagans and Jeremy Clements. All three were also dogged by by the still lapped car of Scott Lagasse who just could not get in front of the leaders despite ample oppurtunities. On the third to last restart, Kimmel tried a bold manuever to squeeze Lagasse down to the bottom of the track and dispatch him onto the cars behind him, and ideally allow him to build a lead that Coleman could not erase in the final laps. His strategy backfired, as he dove down it lead to a massive scramble behind him and left a wide open lane for then 6th place Chuck Weber to shoot by everybody on the outside and grab the lead. Weber fought off Kimmel, Coleman and Clements for a lap and a half, driving his *ss off, but ultimately they'd slip by. Once Coleman finally got his lead back, Kimmel and Co. had no real chance to catch him, despite a fluky caution setting up a last lap shootout for the win. The best car ultimately won, but it was very interesting down the stretch to see a number of drivers throw their hat in the ring to steal the win away. 6.
