Chad McCumbee was running this race in preparation to make his Cup debut the following day. He would finish a more than respectable 25th and followed that up with a 17th the next year, a pair of impressive finishes in a criminally short Cup career. Numerous cars had left front tire problems. Among them were Patrick Sheltra, Erin Crocker, Chad McCumbee, Brad Smith, Paul Menard (twice), Bobby Gerhart, Johnny Sauter, and Mario Gosselin. 14. rm posted: 03.18.2019 - 10:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) DC David Reutimann - 22 - Napa/ESR - Eddie Sharp - Toyota To the rear - 09, 30, 47, 50, 79, 90, 93 - post-impound adjustments; 16 - transmission change; 22 - Driver change First caution - laps 9-14 - 47, 93 accident turn 1 Second caution - laps 19-23 - 62 debris Long Pond Straightaway Third caution - laps 24-27 - 07, 59 accident frontstretch Fourth caution - laps 37-41 - 15 accident turn 1 Fifth caution - laps 43-45 - 4, 12 accident turn 1 (Gosselin got completely sideways, prompting a preemptive caution, but saved it - making the caution look silly) Sixth caution - laps 57-61 - 26 debris Long Pond Straight Seventh caution - laps 69-74 - 65 accident turn 1 09 sponsor - Mopar 12 sponsor - FIXATIRE/James Carter, Attorney 56 owner - Mike Koch 5 crew chief - Billy Gerhart 46 crew chief - Bill Kimmel Jr 98 crew chief - Ray Evernham 15. rm posted: 04.27.2020 - 3:01 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Pocono ARCA races have seen their fair share of Cup-level participants over the years, owing to the fact that until very recently the only stock car series that Pocono hosted were ARCA and Cup. This race featured one of the stronger Cup contingents in recent memory, with Chad McCumbee, Johnny Sauter and Paul Menard all entering ahead of the next day's Cup event. Menard and McCumbee had their cars fielded by their Cup teams, DEI and Petty Enterprises respectively, while Sauter paired up with fellow Wisconsin racer Kevin Cywinski's Win-Tron team. Additionally, Tim Andrews' car was staffed by the #43 Petty Enterprises crew, with his father Paul Andrews pulling double duty and serving as the crew chief for his son's car as well. Erin Crocker's team was also a Cup-crewed team, with owner Ray Evernham himself calling the shots atop the pit box. Just like much of the rest of the field, all five of those drivers had tire issues at some point, though the two Petty-affiliated cars of McCumbee and Andrews rebounded to post podium finishes. Correction on the 93 owner from what I had above - Kenneth Appling owned the car, it was mentioned that he was a teammate to the 3 when he crashed out early. 16. This was just the second of his seven ARCA starts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
