Brian Keselowski was the first choice to be the replacement for Bobby Gerhart, who broke his back in a crash the previous week at Pocono, and Keselowski immediately delivered a top five run. After losing a car at Pocono, Larry Clement & the Kimmel brothers ran a hastily-redecaled Matt Kenseth car in this race, acquired the week of this event. Not sure the last time it raced in Cup, but they seemed to suggest it was the car that Kenseth ran at the 600 earlier in the season and led a bunch of laps with. Michael McDowell lost his chance to win when he ran out of fuel as the third caution came out. The car stalled on pit road and it took numerous tries for the car to refire after the crew pushed the car off. He did manage to sneak back onto the lead lap, but went down a cylinder shortly thereafter and dropped out in the closing laps. McDowell missed pit road when the engine did expire, but despite trailing a lot of smoke, the flagman held the yellow and the race was completed under green. Deborah Renshaw's last major race. Returning to the Schacht team that she found success with in 2002, Renshaw couldn't match those results and went multiple laps down early on after the team had to go under the hood. There was little fanfare for the event, closing the books on a career that once looked promising prior to being involved in the accident that claimed Eric Martin's life in 2002. 9.
