Nowell had a hard crash on the frontstretch and Peterson crashed twice on one lap, taking out the rear end and then the front end. 9. rm posted: 05.01.2017 - 11:22 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) First caution - laps 2-4 - 15 spun turn 4 (lucky dog: none) Second caution - laps 8-13 - 81 accident turn 3 (lucky dog: 68) Third caution - laps 16-20 - 70 stalled frontstretch (lucky dog: 68) (Oh, the irony of one of the Copes spinning, allowing the other one to get back on the lead lap. The 32 crashed hard in turn 2 just before this caution in his backup car but no caution was thrown) Fourth caution - laps 25-30 - 70 accident frontstretch (lucky dog: 29) (There was a comedy of errors preceding this caution...first the 29 spun out on the backstretch with what looked like a blown tire. The 99 likely hit debris from the 29 car, causing major damage to the valence. Then the 23 took a wild ride through the frontstretch grass, catching some brief air when the car hit the edge of the quarter mile track. Then the 70 spun out in turn 4 but kept going, only to have a spectacular right rear tire blow out on the frontstretch at just 70 mph, finally forcing ARCA to throw a caution and end the two minutes of madness that had just ensued on track...if Mike Joy and the FOX gang had been broadcasting this race, I think he may have asked DW and Larry Mac - "Have you ever?") Fifth caution - laps 32-34 - 68 spun turn 4 (lucky dog: 09) Sixth caution - laps 47-53 - 09 accident turn 3 (lucky dog: ???) Seventh caution - laps 55-57 - 25, 99 accident frontstretch (lucky dog: 26) Eighth caution - laps 64-69 - 37 stalled frontstretch (lucky dog: ???) (37 spun and was stalled for a lap before they threw the yellow) Ninth caution - laps 83-92 - 23, 60 accident frontstretch (lucky dog: 48) Tenth caution - laps 100-103 - 22, 45 accident frontstretch (lucky dog: none) To the rear - 4, 29, 66 - unapproved adjustments; 06, 16, 20, 30, 32 - backup car As briefly alluded to in my last comment, there were several crashes in qualifying. The SPEED team said they counted 8, only brief clips of the session have survived online though so we may never be able to verify this. At least those 4 cars went to backups. 01 crew chief - Mike Abner (same for all 01-Caisse races in 2008) 2 crew chief - Patrick Donahue (same for all races in 2008) 16 crew chief - Jim Pullman (just a 1-race thing) 00 owner - Brad Keselowski (same for all Brent races in 2008) 23 sponsor - Porter Glass/Hixson Construction This race introduced the Cope twins to much of the racing world and Angela Cope wasted no time showing what was to come from them by missing a shift on the initial start. She sank from the fourth row all the way to the rear of the field very quickly and wound up losing two laps. The night only got worse for them from there. To say they had a bad day is like saying Richard Petty won a few races...a vast, vast understatement. 10. rm posted: 03.18.2019 - 10:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 01 crew chief - Mike Abner (same for all 01-Caisse races in 2008) 2 crew chief - Patrick Donahue (same for all races in 2008) 5 crew chief - Billy Gerhart 16 crew chief - Jim Pullman (just a 1-race thing) 44 crew chief - Bill Kimmel Jr. 00 owner - Brad Keselowski (same for all Brent races in 2008) 21 owner - Mark Gibson 70 owner - Derrike Cope 23 sponsor - Porter Glass/Hixson Construction 70 sponsor - Starr E/Comp Cal 11. rm posted: 10.22.2019 - 11:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 7 owner - Frank Kapfhammer 14 owner - Bill Venturini 39 owner - Fred Hawkins 48 owner - Greg Sarff 48 sponsor - Capital City Motorsports A shame this race is no longer on YouTube, easily one of the more bizarre ones I've ever watched. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
