I have to say, they put on a really good show. It was nice to see Sheltra get the win after his big accident. - Basically, it looked like Lofton had the best car the first half of the race, while Sheltra was the best in the second half. The only time Lofton could catch up was if Sheltra was in lap traffic.Sheltra came in to get tires after the final caution, and that proabably made the difference. - Kimmel actually had to start at the back. He had to come in during the warm-up laps because they left a air tank (or something like that) in the car. It was cool to watch him move up through the field. He got collected in a accident midway throught the race. At first, it appeared as though it didn't affect him too much, but toward the end of the race, Kimmel just didn't have the speed. One has to wonder what kind of day he would have had if these two things didn't happen. - I was really impressed with the guy who finished fourth. I don't think he got the memo that 16 year olds aren't supposed to run well their first time at Salem. - It was so nice to see the final 63 laps run under greeen. Those laps were fun to watch. 2. Also first career start for Stephen McCurley, Scott Alves, and Larry Meadors. 3. Jeff Wagoner posted: 04.06.2009 - 4:53 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Was at the race as well. Mike Koch is a friend of mine, was glad to see him get his first laps led in ARCA. Larry Meadors has made ARCA starts in the past. I have him listed in 13th in the 1975 International 500 @ Louisville Fairgrounds. I guess he was running an S&P effort for the Kimmels. 4.
