Steve Arpin gets his 4th straight top ten, which includes 2 podium finishes. His 5th top five of the year overtakes his total from his 2009 rookie season. Sheltra and Arpin are the only drivers with multiple wins this season, each having two. Grant Enfinger gets his 7th podium finish in 17 career ARCA starts dating back to 2008. Frank Kimmel finishes 4th for his 11th top ten in the last 13 races. But Craig Goess' 5th place finish combined with the 15 points for earning his 2nd pole of the season and his career allowed him to retake the lead in the standings by just 5 over Kimmel. Sheltra's win moved him into 3rd, must 10 points behind Goess. Point leader heading into the race, Tom Hessert III, finished 7th to fall to 4th and 20 points back. Justin Marks gets his first top ten in the last 4 races. But finishes of 21st, 20th and 22nd prior to that have sunk him from fighting for the championship to 6th in the standings. Joey Coulter won the Bill France Four Crown Award, which goes to the driver who scores the most points in a diverse 4 race span within the season. The races included the half-mile Berlin Speedway short track, the 2-and-a-quarter mile New Jersey Motorsports Park road course, the mile Illinois State Fairgrounds dirt track and the mile-and-a-half Chicagoland Speedway cookie cutter. Coulter won at Berlin, finished 2nd at NJMP, finished 4th at Illinois and 8th at Chicagoland to hold off Patrick Sheltra by 10 points to win the award. Bobby Gerhart gets just his 2nd top ten in his 6 starts since winning at Daytona. 3. rm posted: 09.23.2016 - 11:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sheltra won this race in dominating fashion. He held off Steve Arpin in a 10 lap sprint to the finish after Chad Finley blew an engine in the closing stages. Benny Chastain wrecked on the initial start and never made a lap. He stepped on the gas, only for the car to go hard right into the wall and he coasted through the grass and into the garage. Casey Roderick wrecked early after he got loose outside of the lapped car of James Hylton. Mikey Kile got loose trying to avoid Roderick and turned Chad McCumbee head on into the outside wall in a huge crash. 4. rm posted: 05.05.2017 - 9:28 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) First caution - laps 8-15 - 1, 25, 51 accident backstretch (lucky dog: 48) Second caution - laps 34-43 - 58 accident turn 2 (lucky dog: 14) Third caution - laps 58-63 - 15 spun turn 2 (lucky dog: 52) Fourth caution - laps 72-74 - 36 accident turn 2 (lucky dog: ???) Fifth caution - laps 88-90 - 29 oil on track frontstretch (lucky dog: 15) 36 crew chief - Dave Leiner (same for all 2010 races) 81 crew chief - Johnny Allen (same for all 2010 races) Chad Finley inherited the lead on some pit strategy. After this race, Finley wouldn't lead another lap in ARCA competition until he won at Nashville in 2017 - a gap of 7 years, but well worth the wait. 5. rm posted: 05.04.2020 - 2:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 06 sponsor - Mike's Foreign Car Repair 7 sponsor - Dodge Stock Car Pit Crew Challenge 26 sponsor - Brad Smith Motorsports 59 sponsor - G-Force Racing Gear 68 sponsor - OTWcrew.com 70 sponsor - Guitar-Cable.com 68 owner - Mark Gibson Ray Mooi Jr. makes a brief reappearance to park one of the Eddie Sharp cars. Mooi had tried to get a team going in 2010, partnering with the Bowshers in order to get off the ground, but the only race they attempted was Daytona with Jennifer Jo Cobb. Mooi never made a start himself for the team and hasn't resurfaced in a major stock car touring series since. Bobby Gerhart's most recent top-10 that came at a track outside of his usual rotation of Daytona-Talladega-Pocono. 6.
