RaceFanX posted: 07.22.2012 - 2:07 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) ARCA vet Mark Thompson had a rough day. In qualifying he spun off turn 4 onto pit road and almost hit the yellow #83 of local Illinois racer Mike Affarano. In the race Thompson then spun out on two more occasions before he called it a day. For Affarano this was his first race in his own equipment since his wild rollover in his debut at Talladega, this was his third ARCA start and this 23rd was his best to date. He had a solid yellow car here instead of the now destroyed black-and-yellow one he ran at the plate track. 8. We all thought he was gonna get into Mike (Mike was pulling into pit lane at the time) 9. His only 2 top 5's have come from those poles, the previous being a runner-up at Rockingham in 2010 for ESR. Brennan Poole picks up his 2nd career runner-up finish and 4th top 2 finish of the season. Frank Kimmel gets his 3rd podium of the season, and his 5th top 5 (just 3 all of last season). Chris Buescher held on to the point lead thanks to his series-leading 7th top 5, all coming in the last 8 races. Ryan Reed finishes a career-best 5th, his first top 5 in 11 career starts (all this season). It's just his 3rd top 10 of the year, but all have come within his last 5 starts. Rookie Nelson Canache (holy shit he's 34? didn't notice that until now) gets his first career top 10 finish in ARCA. 10. the Great Dave posted: 07.24.2012 - 1:01 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The #83 Sponsor was givetoward.com/joesephbeilke / US 99.5 #40 Sponsor was Savetheconsitution.org #34 was Sponsored by Spirit of Henryville / Scott's 11. The one I posted is part of a partnership between Carter & Hatch (the original winner of Survivor) for the Iowa race. Since he was just start & parking this race, we left the logos on the car. (I crewed for them). Also should be noted that USAC Midget leader Darren Hagens will be in the #40 at LOR. 12. Kevin Swindell won in the #55 using what I believe was Billy Venturini's solid dark blue paint job from the late 1990s-early 2000s. Brennan Poole had Bill Venturini's iconic #25 and ran perhaps Bill's most iconic paint job, his 1987-era white with blue numbers and red and orange striping Amoco Ultimate colors from when he won the championship with his legendary all-female pit crew. Nelson Canache's #35 had Big Bill's later all-yellow Rain-X colors from the early 1990s. I think these were colors when Venturini won his second ARCA title in 1991, if not it was the one below... Mark Thompson's #66 had Bill Venturini's later Amoco Ultimate colors, white with a blue top. 13. Swindell's car was in fact inspired by Billy's cars. 14. Unser1 posted: 07.26.2012 - 3:34 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) SPEED televised this race but was suprised by how quick it went. The race ended early and the channel had to use a rerun of "The 10" about great Dale Earnhardt moments to fill time until Speed Center began at 7 p.m., the channel had expected the race to run longer and advertised during it Speed Center was coming up next. 15. Wow, that's something that is both incredibly awesome and that I would never see coming. If any of you are ever in Chicago, go to that museum. They've got some amazing exhibits. 19. rm posted: 01.18.2021 - 7:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) To date - through 2020 - no driver has led every lap in a series race since Kevin Swindell did it here. Several have come close, though - Chandler Smith, Ty Gibbs and Ryan Unzicker have led all but one; Grant Enfinger led all but two; and Ty Gibbs had another race in which he led all but 4. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
