For Townley this was his only ARCA start of 2012 and his first since the Daytona opener in 2010. For the last time he crashed out of an ARCA race you have to look all the way back to Chicagoland in 2008 when he was still a series regular. 10. rtcrules posted: 10.20.2012 - 4:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Watched the replay last night on Speed. My wife woke up and watched for a few minutes and asked me if I even knew who any of these people were. Honestly I dont follow ARCA but if a race is on I'll watch it. So I said not really. I know Kimmel whos won a lot of championships. I know Buescher but only cause of James. Oh, and that guy in 3rd, John Wes Townley is nicknamed John Wrecks Weekly. Not even a lap is completed before a caution for #35 in the wall. Timing is everthing. 11. RaceFanX posted: 10.20.2012 - 5:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The ARCA title comes down to the final race as Chris Buescher wins his first championship with an eighth-place finish. The only driver who could have caught him was Frank Kimmel, looking to cap his resurgence this year, but while Kimmel finished in front of Buescher it wasn't by enough to claim the title. Out front Alex Bowman wins from the pole and dominates in the process. It's Bowman's fourth win of the year and only one on a superspeedway. 12. Glad Chris got the title, he's a really good kid, and hopefully he can move on up next season if sponsorship allows. Also should be noted that the previous race, the Southern Illinois 100 at DuQuion, was cancelled for good after it rained heavily during the weekend of the rescheduled race. The ARCA season was supposed to be 20 races, but the dropping of the DuQuion race dropped it to 19. 14. It's the first time two or more drivers have finished tied for the most wins in an ARCA season since Frank Kimmel and Ryan Hemphill each had 6 wins in 2004. Bowman ended up leading the series in wins, poles (won his 6th of the year in this race) and laps led (554). He also beat out Brennan Poole for ROTY. After qualifying and finishing 1st and leading all 100 laps in the first 1.5 mile speedway race of the year at Chicagoland, Kevin Swindell qualifies and finished 2nd while leading no laps in the 2nd one of the year here at Kansas. Grant Enfinger picks up his 3rd top 3 finish in 6 starts this season, and 14th in 43 career ARCA starts (including 10 3rd place finishes). Since 1996, he has the most podium finishes of any driver without a victory. Brennan Poole ends 2012 with his first top 5 in 5 races, but his 8th of the year and 10th in 23 career starts. Two Brennans finish in the top 5, with Brennan Newberry picking up his 2nd top 5 in 2 starts this season. Frank Kimmel finishes in at least a tie for the most top 10's in ARCA for a 2nd consecutive season, but had 10 top 5's this year compared to just 3 in 2011; they're his most top 5's in a season since 2008, which was also the last time he was top 2 in points. Mason Mitchell makes it 4 top 10's in his first 4 career ARCA starts this season. Chris Buescher clinches the 2012 ARCA Racing Series championship with an 8th place finish. He wins the title with a 5.9 average finish, which is actually a tick worse than the 5.8 avg fin he had in finishing 2nd in points in 2011. After having just 3 top 10's in 16 starts in 2011 (finished just 5 races), Will Kimmel gets his 6th in 17 starts this year (finished 7 races). After having just 1 top 10 in his first 9 ARCA races (12.4 avg fin), Ryan Reed ends 2012 with top 10's in 5 consecutive starts (7.2 avg fin). 15. joey2448 posted: 02.12.2013 - 12:30 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Rick Allen, calling the race for SPEED, had a hilarious moment when Alex Bowman crossed the line to win the race. He enthusiastically yelled out, "Alex Bowman is going to win the final race of the year in the ARCA racing series, here at Kansas Speedway, and that will cap of the championship season for Alex Bowman! Your champion for 2012!" He caught himself moments later, but it was so funny! 16. rm posted: 05.04.2020 - 3:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 02 sponsor - Roush-Yates Engines 7 sponsor - CNY Painting & Roofing 7 owner - David Cushman 10 owner - Andy Hillenburg 18 owner - Andy Hillenburg 17.
