Congratulations John, we knew you could win it after one full season with no wins, infrequent other starts and doubts about you really living up to your "Wrecks Weekly" name! 2. Yeah it was due to Bobby Gerhart running out of gas, but JWT had a good car and was in position to take advantage of Gerhart's misfortune. Congrats to him and the whole Zaxby's team. 3. JWT's the first driver to win the #ARCA Daytona race from pole since Gerhart did it back-to-back in 2005 and 2006. And JWT's the first driver other than Gerhart to win Daytona from pole since Andy Hillenburg in 1997. #ARCA It's also Venturini Motorsports' first ever win at Daytona. Kyle Larson finishes 2nd in his Daytona and plate-racing debut. Also just his 2nd #ARCA start (13th at Michigan last year). Ricky Ehrgott finishes 3rd in just his 3rd #ARCA start; he had finishes of 16th and 30th in 2 starts last season. Frank Kimmel picks up his 8th top 5 in 18 Daytona starts since 1996, his first since 2008. 4th is his best finish since a 2nd in 2005. #ARCA Sean Corr picks up his 1st career top 5 and just his 4th top 10 in 35 #ARCA starts. Brennan Newberry suffers his worst career #ARCA finish. 6th, his 3rd top 10 in 3 starts (4th and 5th in the others). Mason Mingus picks up his 8th top 10 in 14 career #ARCA starts. Had 7 top 10's in 12 starts last season (12.9 avg fin). 61-year-old Mark Thompson finishes in the top 10 for a 2nd straight Daytona #ARCA race (5th last year). Thompson has 32 top 10's in 49 #ARCA starts since 1996; 2 wins, 20 top 5's, and finished 3rd in pts back in 1997. In just his 2nd career #ARCA start, but his first since 2008, Matt Kurzejewski finishes 9th. Ran Toledo in '08 as a 17-year-old. Chad Boat picks up his 3rd top 10 in 4 career #ARCA starts. Boat has just 1 top 10 in 19 career #KNEast starts. 5. He announced earlier this week that this will be his final season as a race car driver, a racing career that spans 49 years, dating back to 1964, and has been involved in racing even longer, working as a mechanic on Rex White's 1960 Grand National championship team. He has made at least 40 points-paying starts at Daytona in his career (although his ARCA total may not be accurate), with a best finish of 3rd coming in the 1967 Daytona 500. 21. Steve posted: 02.17.2013 - 8:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The only reason Dunno led the opening laps is because she jumped the start. Unless ARCA has no rule against beating the polesitter to the start line, I have no idea why she was not black-flagged. But how else would she led a green flag lap in any race? Her co-driver in Grand-Amateur, Andy Wallace, is the one responsible for her "wins". Otherwise, the biggest surprise of the race was the long green flag run to the finish. 26. CBASS posted: 02.17.2013 - 11:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Worked this one with C2M. Really surprised about the long green flag run. Second straight year the boys kept it together for so long.
