He hit the wall head on HARD and there were several tense moments before he climbed out of his car. He was awake and alert and was taken to the infield medical center, but it was then determined that he should go to a local hospital for futher evaluation. Salem Speedway does not have a tunnel under the track and a caution had to be throw to open the outside gate and allow the ambulance to leave. Normally I don't like a caution being thrown for a non race related purpose but obviously this is an exception. John Wes Townley ran a decent race until being shoved out of the way by Gallagher late in the race, and then slide back and had contract with several cars until finally blowing a tire and hitting the wall, he confronted Gallagher on pit road after the race about the incident. Frank Kimmel dominated the middle portion of the race, like Townley he had contract late in the race and cut a tire bringing out the caution, but because of the low number of cars still on the lead lap he still had a respectable finish, and 2nd and 3rd in points Mingus and Mitchell had bad days Kimmel heads to Talladega with a sizable points lead. Mason Mitchell had one of the best cars for most of the race. The announcers mentioned that his #99 team (which is the renumbered #17 team that Chris Buescher spent the last couple seasons with)had not had a DNF in over 2 years before today. It looked like Gallagher, who made a fool of himself last weeking during his Truck series debut by spinning out unassisted twice in practice and at least twice during the race before finally wrecking, was going to pull of the upset but he got loose in turn 3 allowing Hessert to take the lead. Hessert, who took over the ride vacated by Alex Bowman, had not hade a top ten finish in the seasons first two races but overcame his early season bad luck to record his 3rd career win. 2. Welcome to ARCA. 3. Gallagher choked on the G-W-C and Hessert sped by. 4. He's only racing anything because of his daddy. 6. Watto posted: 04.28.2013 - 10:29 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) "Kinda funny that Townley was so pissed. How many times has he wrecked and taken out people. He's only racing anything because of his daddy." The only reason anybody's racing anything in ARCA is because of their daddy... Aside from the rare exceptions, of course, like James Hylton. Also, getting dirtied up is different from an honest mistake. Intent is everything. 7. Just because a driver has made mistakes in the past (and Townley certainly has made his fair share) doesn't mean they don't have the right to be upset at another driver using them on the race track. As a matter of fact, we saw an example of that in the Nationwide race Friday night when Brian Scott approached Nelson Piquet, Jr. following the race after Piquet ran over Scott to obtain 14th or 15th place by driving the car too hard while exiting turn 2, costing Scott about five positions in the process. Sure, Scott has made his fair share of mistakes on the race track, but as far as I'm aware has never intentionally wrecked anybody on the race track before, and went up to Piquet afterwards to express his displeasure. Some people didn't think Scott had a right to do that due to his wreck-prone history in NASCAR, but I disagree with that belief because of the differences in intent that the two drivers have shown while racing on track. I feel the same way regarding the Townley/Gallagher incident. If Townley felt the need to express his displeasure towards Gallagher by speaking to him after the race, more power to him. 8. I was in Kimmel's pit at the time and they WERE NOT happy, as you'd expect. 13. kevin20fan posted: 04.29.2013 - 11:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Gallagher caught Kimmel in lapped traffic with about 7 or 8 to go and leaned on him a little bit to take the lead, but didn't wreck him. That allowed Hessert to catch Kimmel and spin him out, so if Kimmel's crew wasn't happy with Gallagher I can understand why. 14. We missed the fist 2 laps because of a battery issue, but he was able to continue on until his hard crash. *On the GWC, Spencer had it, but over-drove it off 2. Tom capitalized, and stole the victory. *Spencer got into JWT mid-way, which ultimately led to JWT's flat under green. He responded by returning to the track, waiting for Spencer to come back around, and hooked a hard right in the middle of 3 and 4. He got Spencer in the quarter panel, but Spencer scampered away. This incident almost changed the race, since Frank was in the middle of battling Spencer for the lead, and he had to back off to miss JWT. The incident resulted in the current Twitter war between Spencer and Billy Venturini. *This race was a massacre the 2nd half. Caution after caution after caution. Still a heluva race, and a heluva finish. 15. Anonymous posted: 04.30.2013 - 1:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Milka Duno is finally becoming a mid-level ARCA driver! 16.
