Savicki, Gibson and Rettig didn't take time) 2. I was hoping Ryan Blaney could catch Brennan Poole in the end, but he just ran out of time. Also, give a call to Kent Schenkel for his best career ARCA finish of 12th. 3. 83andJoe posted: 06.14.2013 - 8:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cautions: Lap 24-30: #99 accident turn 2 (Lucky Dog: #88) Lap 41-46: #77 accident turn 3 (LD: #97) Lap 73-78: #23 accident turn 1 (LD: #22) Lap 89-92: #25 spin turn 2 (LD: #97) 4. 83andJoe posted: 06.14.2013 - 8:24 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) The Great Dave: I'm starting to wonder if the shortfielditis that is affecting ARCA might have something to do with the fact that the old "Gen-4" Cup cars (i.e. pre-CoT) are wearing out and thus the supply of "cheap" cars on the market is nosediving, as teams either have to purpose-build cars for ARCA, or buy used purpose-built cars instead of third- or fourth-hand ex-Cup cars. 5. 83andJoe posted: 06.14.2013 - 8:28 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) An amusing moment in the race came during the third caution when Phil Parsons tried to talk to Grant Enfinger, but the radio circuits decided to give him Enfinger's teammate, Buster Graham, instead - without Parsons realising it. When Graham pointed out he wasn't talking to Enfinger, the resulting embarassed silence from Parsons - with Parker Kliegerman, who had joined the SPEED crew in the booth for this race, laughing hysterically in the background, was hilarious. An interesting thing was that on the second-to-last restart Ryan Blaney lined up in the wrong line for the restart - in ARCA's restart procedure, the "Lucky Dog" car is supposed to line up at the tail end of the longest line, whereas in NASCAR (which Blaney is used to) the "Lucky Dog" moves to the tail end of the lead lap cars, with wave-arounds going to the end of the longest line. Blaney postioned himself after the lead-lap cars, but ARCA, instead of calling him in for a stop-and-go, simply instructed him to drop back and let the lapped cars that should have started ahead of him pass. I thought this was a pretty cool - and fair - move and this kind of discretion should be used more often. 6. 83andJoe posted: 06.14.2013 - 8:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Other notes: -Kent Schenkel hit the wall in turn 3 with two laps to go, and was last seen limping onto pit road as the leaders took the white flag. -Chad Boat had been hoping to use a variant fuel strategy, pitting on the second caution with one to go and intending not to stop again, but his car broke an axle and he lost 11 laps repairing it. -It was the Evening of the Living Dead Right Front Tire, as the first three cautions were all caused by blown right fronts, and Schenkel appeared to have blown a right front as well causing his accident. -Boston's spin was the result of Poole pushing up in turn 2 attempting to pass him, and the air off the front of the 15 turned the 25 around. Bill Venturini looked rather less than amused... 7. 83andJoe posted: 06.14.2013 - 8:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #15 crew chief: Kevin Reed #77 crew chief: Paul Andrews 8. That was a fairly impressive move, but Enfinger almost ended all of their days before they even started. Luckily, they all made it through and continued on. 9. In the hey day ARCA was pulling in 50+ cars at MIS. Car counts are pathetic and that is killing the bottom line at ARCA. ARCA is begging anybody with equipment too show up and start and park. They are not selling all the credentials every week along with the taking in all license fees they are accustom to taking in. Take out the field fillers and you have 20 cars on the track today. Another thing killing ARCA is NASCAR allowing minors running in the truck series. Anybody with the money will put themselves someplace else besides ARCA. While NASCAR still looks at ARCA experience to approve drivers on tracks bigger than a 1/2 mile there is just no need in running more than a handful of these races a year. This should have been one of the bigger draws for car counts but week by week they are shrinking. 10. How the heck did Blaney, with such a dominant car not win?? 11. 83andJoe posted: 06.14.2013 - 9:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #10: Blaney got burned on pit stops; he pitted under green just before the third caution to start the pit cycle, and none of the other lead lap cars had pitted when the caution came out. He then had the "drop back" penalty for lining up in the wrong lane on the restart; he had moved up to fourth by the time the fourth caution came out, and took second on the restart, but after that it was two words: Aero Push. 12. She even finished two laps behind Roger Carter, who pretty much builds his cars himself. Sponsorship or not, Venturini made a bad choice hiring her, even if the money she brings in is used to help fund his other cars. 14. Also, Corvette Online sponsoring a Toyota. Good old ARCA! 16. CBASS posted: 06.14.2013 - 11:33 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) Milka actually replaced Nelson Canache in the 35. Nelson was faster, but he wrecked a lot more cars (surprisingly). Justin Boston replaced Poole in the 25. Wooo! Got Roger his first top 10, in his own underpowered car, on the lead lap. I hope this is enough to earn himself another chance. 28 cars in a race at MIS shown on SPEED is not promising for ARCA. 12th place finishing 8 laps behind the winner harkens back 2 decades or more, when only a handful of cars could contend for a Top 5 finish. 19. Dave#38 Fan-Go Gilliland! posted: 06.15.2013 - 1:49 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I guess I forgot what number Poole ran last year, but my point still stands. It sucks that who gets to race comes down to sponsorship because there's no way Duno deserves a full-time ride over Poole. Poole won today and she finished 2 laps down, and yet she'll be racing next week and Poole might not get another shot behind the wheel for a month or two. The only good thing coming out of this situation is that Venturini can use the money she brings in too keep the #15 and #55 on the track when they don't have sponsorship and give deserving drivers like Kyle Benajamin a chance. 20. CBASS posted: 06.15.2013 - 9:15 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Steve, Brennan supposedly was supposed to have a Truck ride this season, so he left Venturini at the end of the season. It fell through, so now I believe he's just back trying to get track time. 21. kobaltman48 posted: 06.15.2013 - 2:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was at this race. It was surprisingly good for an ARCA race, though I was disappointed at the low car count. I think if Blaney had 1 more lap, he would've been side by side with Poole, because he gained a lot of time on that last lap. 22.
