On the last restart, Kelly Kovski and AJ Fike passed leader Brennan Poole and were judged to have jumped the restart. They were given the black flag, but neither acknowledged it and came across the line first and second... apparently the flagman was adept enough to not give them the checkers and Poole was the first car to take the checkered flag (I'm assuming that is meaningful in ARCA). This race will be on NBC Sports this Thursday evening. Randy LaJoie will be an analyst as well. 2. Anonymous posted: 08.18.2013 - 11:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This race fell apart at the end. Gallagher and Poole were battling rough for the lead after getting around Fike, but a late, late caution threw it to a green white checkered, where despite being the third car across the line, Poole was given the win after Kovski and Fike were black flagged for jumping the start. Lots of confusion. 3. Anonymous posted: 08.18.2013 - 11:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Andrew Ranger totaled his car in practice and went home 4. The 16 definitely jumped the last restart but I'm not convinced Fike jumped the restart. The 23 was spinning his tires and off the pace. 15. Fourth caution - laps 97-102 - 23 slow turn 4?; free pass - ??? (Gallagher got way high in 4 but they never said what the actual caution was for) To the rear - 55 - unapproved adjustments; 3 - driver choice Frank Kimmel had a fire in the engine during practice, but rallied back for a top 5. Taylor Ferns put the car in the top 5 in qualifying but backed it into the fence in turn 1 after the checkers. The crew buffed it back out and she drove it back into the top 10. Andrew Ranger was fastest in the first practice but lost his brakes in qualifying and wrecked in turn 1. The broadcasters said at different times that he was a DNS and a DNQ. Would say that since he took the flag in qualifying it's probably better listing him as a DNS in 35th. So, the ending to the race. Kovski restarted 3rd, behind leader Poole and second place Gallagher. Kovski pulled out of line in turns 3 and 4 and had driven alongside Gallagher and then Poole long before the green - no doubt that he jumped the restart and was correctly displayed the black flag. He brought fourth place AJ Fike with him, though it appeared that Fike had made a move to pass the slowing Spencer Gallagher after the green flag waved. Fike took the checkers second - after the flagged Kovski - but Brennan Poole was awarded the win. Andy Hillenburg, the car owner for Fike, was on the commentary team and went from overjoyed to mystified in a matter of minutes. Poole was thoroughly booed in victory lane and it very much seemed to many that Fike was wrongfully dropped back to 14th. ARCA President Ron Drager had to controversially explain the ruling that may or may not have wound up being applied inconsistently in future events (See Christopher Bell, 2017, where the move was legal). 24. p30le posted: 07.26.2019 - 12:41 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) @20, Poole has done the bow and crying thing since the 90's, that wasn't taken from Kyle Busch 25.
