Dave #38 Fan-Go Gilliland! posted: 03.22.2014 - 10:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Some driver notes: Grant Enfinger scores his 4th career ARCA victory, all coming in his last 10 starts in the series and all for owner Howard Bixman. A full season is "still iffy" but two wins in a row to start the season should hopefully help the team find some more sponsorship. Kyle Benjamin finishes 2nd in his first race with the Roulo Brothers, in his first race as a Roush development driver. Matt Tifft finished 6th in his 3rd ARCA race and first for Ken Schrader. Sixteen year old Michael Lira scores his second top ten in his 5th career start, driving for Bill Kimmel Racing. 2013 JEGS / CRA series champion Cody Coughlin made his series debut, he spun a couple of times and never really ran near the front. The Joe Gibbs development driver will run around 10 more races this season. Michael Self was running 3rd in the closing laps with a damaged car before something broke and he coasted to a stop. Impressive debut until that point and I'd love to see the 6-time K&N West series race winner (who's team in that series shut down, apparently) run some more races. Alabama native Joey Gattina picked up a last minute start and park ride at his hometrack. 78 year old James Hylton hired 65 year old Darrell Basham for this weekend. Their combined age is likely more than the rest of the field combined. Carter 2 Motorsports continues that shady ways. Just days after signing Bobby Hamilton Jr. to run full-time, they parted ways with him, citing that his promised $$ never came through. Not the first time this team has screwed over a driver, in fact the team owner, Roger Carter, who drove one of the teams cars full-time last season, is currently serving a jail sentence. 5. FHgrad99 posted: 03.22.2014 - 11:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I just wanted to clarify the whole Bobby Hamilton Jr./Carter 2 Motorsports situation. Bobby Hamilton Jr. commented on what happened. From what he said what caused their split wasn't really the team's fault. According to him, he had a sponsor lined up but the sponsor assumed that he would be paying the team to put the sponsor's name on the car. Hamilton said that some associate sponsors ended up backing out because of Roger Carter being in jail. 6. 23andJoe posted: 03.23.2014 - 6:33 am Rate this comment: (5) (0) In addition to Enfinger running away and hiding from the field, this week ARCA's website was redesigned. First, the live timing and scoring? Now has a 15 minute delay unless you sign up. Secondly: 1996 called. They want their website design back... 7. #91 Withdraw? posted: 03.23.2014 - 9:55 am Rate this comment: (6) (0) Sad to see some of the cars go home. I believe the #13 for ThorSport was entered was well, but a driver was never listed and earlier this week on facebook they said that they were not attempting the race. 17. Attempts tally? posted: 03.24.2014 - 7:00 am Rate this comment: (3) (0) Soo how would their points workout in a WD? Who gets owners points and then who gets drivers points, if any? I think its like $200-400 just to be on the Entry List and another $625-1400 just for the ARCA licenses over the winter. I know in Sprint Cup, you dont get any points but you do get an official Attempt, in case their is ever a tie in a rainout. 19. CBASS posted: 03.24.2014 - 9:10 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Post #18, you lose your full time status if you (or your number/another team using your points) don't make it to the track. You lose your locked in provisional status, and you fall from the "Golden A" rule to the "B" status (which has a lower payout, so it pays to make all the races, even if you have to start and park). Just being on the entry list is not enough. 22. VoteGillilandNotDanica2014 posted: 03.25.2014 - 2:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "The entry list and starting lineups are still there. Anonymous posted: 03.25.2014 - 4:20 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) And now comes word that even after winning the first two races of the year, Grant Enfinger's team might not be able to show up for the entire season. Sad that he can't get enough sponsorship to run full time in ARCA, let alone trucks or Nationwide, which I think should be in his future. 24. CBASS posted: 03.26.2014 - 9:37 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) I think just having them listed as "WD" in the DNQ section is enough 27. Daytona and Talladega can have 43, any other track everyone who shows up starts. The days of 5-10 DNQ's for an ARCA race are long gone. 29. #25 / From UltimateRacingHistory posted: 03.27.2014 - 2:02 pm Rate this comment: (2) (2) To #25: Being that you ARE the director of UltimateRacingHistory.com, if you don't want to add the Withdraw cars, then don't. I don't know where you get that idea from, but I don't run any website. The problem is that the way the WD cars are being shown here now, they're showing on the drivers' pages as DNQs, which is /not/ the case. 31. I'm actually in favor of seeing every single car that had SOMETHING to do with a race on here. Did Mark Menuier get a DNQ or WD in ARCA Slick Mist 200 at Daytona? What about Dave Blaney #77 and JJ Yeley's #44 duel Withdraws last week in NSCS? Where does their prize go in a WD? 32. 23andJoe posted: 03.28.2014 - 5:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (4) ^ They shouldn't be counted unless they actually showed up at the track. 33. More Withdraws. Paid WD's? posted: 03.28.2014 - 8:42 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) And Dave Blaney manages to go 0/5 in 2014. 3 DNQ's and now 2 WD's, including Martinsville this afternoon. I think Blaney took some lessons from Larry Gunselman where he mysteriously Withdraws but we later find out he collects a huge check for letting other cars slip into the show (usually from Furniture Row Racing's owner). No idea who got paid from Mobile to sit out. 34. 2010 Daytona: 13 WD's !! posted: 03.29.2014 - 11:09 am Rate this comment: (1) (1) Billionaire, John Menard, paid a whopping 13 Nationwide cars to Withdraw from the 2010 Daytona COPD 300 as Qualifying was rained out and Menard's NEEDED a car in the show there for new sponsor Peak-Antifreeze. Paul Menard had no Owners Points and was to be locked out after Peak spent a lot of money to get on their car. Many, many teams opted to pickup the phone when John Menard called offering a check of $50,000 to pullout. Menard went on to finish 6th and collect a mere $57,000. Now that's business. 35. #64/78 NHMS, Daytona deal(s). Blaney? posted: 03.29.2014 - 12:37 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) During the 2009 season, Gunselman Motorsports were well ahead of start-up team Furniture Row Racing's #78 in Attempts. That #64 received about double the prize money from FRR for Withdrawing from NHMS and Daytona, thereby letting Regan Smith slip into the show. Still not sure how Blaney and Yeley are benefiting from their rash of WD's here in 2014 though, it will come out. 36.
