Ranger has now won this race 4 straight times. Fellow ringer Brian Wong finished 2nd in another Venturini car, for his career best finish. Tim Viens also got his career best finish after start and parking for Peterson (lol) Peruvian ringer makes his debut in Kimmel's 2nd car, finishing a strong 8th. The final ringer (and NJMP/SCCA regular) Steve Minghenelli got caught up in a first lap crash with Austin Wayne Self. Finally, Darrell Basham returns his team to the track for the first time this season. I believe he plans on running Pocono next week as well. 3. Since Pocono is "close" to NJMP, a lot of teams are traveling straight to Pocono for open testing on Wednesday. Another big issue is a lot of local SCCA teams didn't make the trip this year. Willie Mullins, Dr. Ed Bull, Robert Mitten, etc. chose not to run this year. 5. Anonymous posted: 06.01.2014 - 7:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Thin field. Not sure what happened with Self and Minghenelli, but the #22 had a LOT of damage. He came out later in the race and limped around for a lap, and the car was missing half the sheetmetal on the right side. Boston had a slim lead over Ranger for the majority of the race but had some kind of issue towards the end that dropped him back a few seconds, then a late pit stop to put him nearly a lap down. Third straight 11th place finish for Josh Williams 6. DRF posted: 06.01.2014 - 7:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) Why wasn't this race on Friday or Saturday evening? And on NBC Sports or Fox Sports 1 or 2? No wonder the field was so short. Ron Drager is no better than Brian France is at running a series. But congrats to Ranger, driving a Dodge no less (with Chevy decals) 7. FHgrad99 posted: 06.01.2014 - 7:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Tim Veins wasn't going to drive the #97 car in this race. He quit Carter 2 Motorsports at Toledo because the car arrived late and it wasn't finished. 8. Tim Viens made up with Carter 2 Motorsports and was suppose to drive the #97 but the car failed qualifying tech and should be listed as "DNQ" 10. CBASS posted: 06.01.2014 - 9:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) FHgrad99, trust me, I loaded the car for him ;) DRF, this race used to pull a decent field in this format. The race is run with support from multiple SCCA classes, Trans Am, and PWC. It's now NJMP's biggest race weekend of the year (since the loss of TUSCS). AND the race used to pull a ton of SCCA & MARS racers (who runs classes with the same cars). For whatever reason this year was especially lean. 11. CBASS posted: 06.02.2014 - 9:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Which is funny because supposedly NJMP put up more money this year after losing TUSCS this year lol. 14. The Great Dave posted: 06.02.2014 - 4:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I heard someone say that several ringers didn't run cause of costs being to high compared to SCCA or MARS races there. Maybe it wasn't purse money like I sad earlier. 15. Seeing as sometimes they get not just the number of caution laps wrong, but the number of actual CAUTIONS... 17.
