When you look at it, he's actually had a pretty good year when you consider his success with the #92 team in the Truck Series, and now this win. Hopefully it can continue because he is a good-natured guy who deserves a good ride. 8. Sad to think that about 12 years ago he was considered a great prospect and his father was on his way to winning a truck championship 9. Almost collected Kligerman with about four to go. 10. Anthony posted: 05.29.2016 - 8:35 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) Wayne Peterson makes starting and parking look like an art 11. He's now won ARCA races on super speedways, short tracks, road courses, and dirt ovals. 13. All 10 of his wins have come on different tracks. 14. bayley01 posted: 05.30.2016 - 10:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Hire this guy!!! 15. Jeff posted: 06.02.2016 - 7:49 am Rate this comment: (4) (0) Unfortunately, Kligerman's legacy will be destroying a car from last place on the grid on the first lap at Martinsville. Those lowlights are somehow more memorable than the achievements. PK is another driver who fell victim to the economy and the dark side of the "find an opportunity, any opportunity" conundrum. His Nationwide results in the #77 were respectable - top ten in points, no wins, but what series regulars were winning races anyway? Remember that for all their mindblowing talent, the Busch brothers combined for ONE win in the same cars a year before. Maybe PK should have sucked it up and spent another year in the #77 seeking sponsorship, seeking seat time, but maybe he knew KBM was going to put their focus on the Trucks where they had sponsorship. It's possible a second year wasn't an option on the table. So PK gets lined up with Swan Racing. A one-car backmarker evolved from a start-and-park operation signs two rookie drivers, a partial sponsor for one car, and expects to run two complete Cup schedules? Maybe if all the stars align, but when does that ever happen besides in "Days of Thunder?" Eight races into the year, Swan has a pile of wrecked Toyotas and blown engines to show for their investment. Some was bad fortune, some was the expected rookie demolition, but what else did you expect from two rookies in underfunded, third-tier equipment? Don't get me wrong, it's on the driver to make an impact (or, preferably, NOT make an impact) - but sometimes there's only so much the driver can do with the equipment at hand. And so eight races of chaos and disappointment at the Cup level symbolize Parker's career, ahead of the fact that he came into ARCA as a stock car rookie and won nine races on a variety of tracks, ahead of the fact that he moved to Trucks with BKR before they were a competitive force (and while they were saddled with Ram "backing"), ahead of the fact that he ran as well in a KBM car as either Kurt or Kyle themselves did on a weekly basis. But he went where there was an open seat, and it burned him. Probably stunted his driving options beyond that. This year is kind of a similar situation in the Trucks. A few good runs for Benton's team had the team talking championship, had them thinking full-schedule. But this is a team that wasn't built for a full schedule, running a minority manufacturer with the hope of lining up deals for more races. If the sponsors up their commitment, that's great. But we're still talking a team that considered skipping Charlotte because, after wrecking the Dover truck, they didn't HAVE another good truck to enter at Charlotte. With limited resources, eventually the money or the energy or the equipment runs dry. The ARCA win is nice marketing, but a trained chimp could place top-ten in a Cunningham car - it's not like he ran top-five in Wayne Peterson's hastily-decaled #06. I admit that I liked watching Parker in ARCA. I liked the fact that he'd come from a non-racing background, and at least seemingly worked his butt off to get noticed to have the ARCA opportunity at all (it wasn't like he had a lot of family money backing each step up the ladder, regardless of results - at least he said he didn't). I don't think his ceiling is as high as Ryan Blaney or Chase Elliott, but given the right ride, he could be a decent career Xfinity driver (if there's room for those anymore), maybe a mid-packer in Cup with time. But a few missteps out of necessity have left us here, instead. 16. Nascar Lead Lap Points posted: 06.04.2016 - 8:46 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor Update #0/#00 Great Railing 17.
