This was Enfinger's first start of the season. 3. rm posted: 08.20.2017 - 8:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sorry about all the funky symbols in the first comment - that's what I get when I copy/paste from Word I guess. Anyway, this race was probably most notable for the big wreck that happened on lap 58. After a restart, Riley Herbst was turned at the end of the backstretch by what appeared to be the 77 car of Dalton Sargeant. Herbst hit the left side of Tyler Dippel's car before nosing into the inside guardrail and coming nearly to a stop at the entrance of turn 3. Dirt was kicked up and cars scattered to avoid Herbst's car. Mike Basham went high and spun out trying to miss the incident - he was successful there but ultimately crashed out later in the race - but not far behind him Brad Smith piled into Herbst in a huge impact. Alex Clubb was slowing while trying to weave through the carnage when he was hit from behind by a speeding Mark Meunier, and both the 06 and 97 cars crashed into Herbst. Whether it was a case of inexperience on dirt, failing brakes, lack of spotter communication or something else, it was a massive crash that resulted in a 12 minute red flag to get the drivers out of the cars and clean up the mess. As far as I know everyone was ok. James Hylton was already hurting after they had a car damaged when their dually and trailer flipped several weeks ago, and the damage from this crash was almost certainly terminal to the car being raced today. Wayne Peterson's team is also reeling after having at least 1 car DNQ'd in two straight races, and having one car have a problem engine & the other destroyed in a crash will set them back. It's hard to see the black 06 being repaired in time to race at Road America this week. Add in Basham's crash late in the race and a mechanical failure for one of the Hixson cars that prevented it from starting the race on time and it was a very rough day for the steel back half of the ARCA field. 4. It should be changed. 6. ol hank posted: 08.21.2017 - 12:00 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Great run for ARCA stalwart Joe Cooksey and the Hixson bunch 7.
