Cindric and Custer were in this race to warm up for a NASCAR Xfinity Series race later in the day. Road racing ace P.J. Jones makes his ARCA debut at age 48. The former Toyota IMSA GTP and CART racer shows he's still got it as he comes home third. 2. rm posted: 08.27.2017 - 4:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I know for sure everyone from Brad Smith on down DNF'd. I know Tifft did as well and I think Henriksen might have as well but unsure. 41 owner - Matthew Miller 88 owner - Mason Mitchell 94 owner - Dick Karth 33 sponsor - AM Technical Solutions Thomas Praytor's 100th ARCA start. Of note, Venturini ran 3 steel cars. Mason Mitchell ran a Ford for Custer, and Bobby Gerhart also ran a Ford - both teams run Chevrolet normally. 3. From there, Gerhart through Meunier finished. Smith, Gragson, and Pompa all had mechanical issues. 4. Mike posted: 08.27.2017 - 5:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #1: It's Theriault's fourth win. The wild last lap allowed a few drivers to sneak out with finishes far better than where they had been running all day, including Lee, Self, Decker and Holmes. Decker and Holmes spent nearly the entire day outside of the top 10 - until the last lap. 6. As there was no official qualifying, no one was sent home due to not making the minimum speed. 8. RaceFanX posted: 08.27.2017 - 10:57 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Bobby Gerhart got a Ford? 9. The second was for debris at the end of the frontstretch from a massive hunk of sheetmetal from Thomas Praytor's car. Mason Mitchell ran steel cars for Custer and Womack. I guess teams were trying to use up all their old steel stuff, Noah Gragson tweeted that he ran the fastest lap of the race in his steel car before DNF'ing due to fuel injector issues. Gerhart was indeed in a white Lucas Oil Ford - according to this site this is the first time he ever ran a Ford. At one point, the MDM 41 of Brian Wong turned Austin Wayne Self around. I imagine that Self retaliated later in the race and drew the ire of MDM's Travis Miller, who aimed a pair of derogatory tweets towards Self. If this was the only run-in between the two it sure makes Miller look very petty. Only the broadcast may tell the story... On the final lap, Custer came in way hot into turn 1 and wrecked both himself and Cindric. Dalton Sargeant inherited the lead but locked up the brakes a few turns later, causing second place Matt Tifft and later AJ Henriksen to pile into him. Theriault was in the right place at the right time and hit his marks for the last 2 or so miles and pulled out the unlikely win for an all-white Ken Schrader car. 12. So he was in 6th place coming to get the white flag? Also, poor Matt Tifft. Lost the chance to win in 2 races in the final lap/2 laps on the same day. 13. rm posted: 08.28.2017 - 5:27 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) I think Theriault was in 4th place. Cindric, Tifft and Custer were 1-2-3. Sargeant pit under the debris caution and came out of nowhere on fresh tires but overdrove the car by the looks of it on the final lap. Theriault was definitely lucky yes but he put himself in position to take advantage of other drivers' miscues. 14. Sargeant jumping the restart does not surprise me - he was supposed to restart 14th but was in 9th by the time he crossed the line and in the lead just a few turns into the final lap. 17. It looked like something happened to the car, it just broke right. Like I said in comment 5, late race shenanigans allowed several drivers to get a far better finish than where they had ran during the first 24 laps. 25. oldschoolracing519 posted: 10.03.2017 - 12:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Crew Chief updates #99 - Brian Wilson #15 - Jeff McClure #22 - Paul Andrews #77 - Chad Bryant the #77 crossed the line in 4th but was penalized 4 spots for jumping the restart so was dropped to 8th 26. Honest question, when does that ever happen outside of plate races? Or even in a plate race? Wild, wacky finish, it was the spiritual successor to the era of crazy Nationwide series races at Montreal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
