Theriault basically needs to show up the next few weeks in order to win the title. Last I checked the Chicagoland race is set to have 31 entries so unless Theriault goes out before the start and parks and steel cars the next couple weeks while Sargeant dominates, we have our champion. Josh Williams returned for his first race since Kansas last year and stayed clean the whole race, remaining fast enough to somehow pick up a top 5. What a return for that team. Funky looking car too, the number on the side was very close to the rear tires. Darrell Basham returned for the first - and probably last - time since beating cancer and turns a couple laps at his home track of Salem in Wayne Hixson's 3 car. Great to see him hop back in the car, even if he's just running half speed for 2 laps before parking. The Bashams are some of the nicest people in the garage area, you had to feel good for them. Will Kimmel backed up his Duquoin pole with another strong qualifying effort here in a throwback to his grandfather, Bill Kimmel Sr.. Bill Sr. was the grand marshal for the race and signed autographs on the frontstretch before the race with other ARCA legends, including Charlie Glotzbach and Jack Wallace. All of the Kimmels were in the house, it was really cool to see 4 generations of Kimmels present at prerace. An informal fan vote was conducted to decide who had the best throwback design and Kimmel soundly defeated the Chase Purdy machine in the final. Kimmel was running well most of the race but smacked the wall in 3 and 4 and was really down on power from there till the end - even being warned about being too slow. Shane Lee hit the wall while running 3rd and had to make a pit stop under green, only to get caught speeding on exit. This came within laps of the 2nd place car of Christian Eckes overheating rapidly and busting the radiator on the car, leaving Ventuini still winless heading into the speedways that wrap up the schedule. Zane Smith nearly won in his first start for MDM since leaving Venturini, but Austin Theriault came on very strong in the last laps and blew by Zane like he was standing still. Theriault just needs to win at one of the speedways coming up to have won at every type of track on the schedule - plate, dirt, short track, and road course have already been checked off. Anyway, updates. Sponsor updates: 0 - Great Railing/Ocean Pipe Works 2 - FuelVend 9 - Moose Kerry Earnhardt Throwback (no DK-LOK decals on the car this week, when's the last time that happened?) 22 - Big Tine Geoff Bodine Throwback 23 - Holmes II Excavation Red Farmer Throwback 31 - SW FL Cable/Bob Fields Auto Parts Throwback 48 - Hylton Motorsports (They threw together the composite body they bought a while back and tested it out for the first time here. It was mostly yellow - I think it's Kyle Plott's Nashville car from 2015 - and they're going to try to get racy with it at Chicagoland this week. No Radon.com decals on the car yet) 52 - Ford/Jack Bowsher Throwback 69 - Laramee Jewelers Bill Kimmel Sr. Throwback To the rear - 0, 3, 34 - driver choice; 28, 33 - unapproved adjustments; 48 - pitting before the green flag Cautions: First caution - laps 69-74 - 06 accident turn 3; free pass - 27 Second caution - laps 88-92 - 2 accident turn 4; free pass - 23 Third caution - laps 134-140 - 55 accident turn 2; free pass - 33 I realize that's only 18 laps, I'll correct it when I see the broadcast, all three cautions came out right as the leader was passing the start finish line so clearly 2 of those cautions wound up coming a lap sooner than what the scoreboard showed when I went to look at it and make a note. The only problem is that I can't figure out which 2 cautions to add the extra lap to... I realize my info post are usually pretty lengthy, so webmaster, if you'd rather I just post the data I can do that from now on. 10. rm posted: 09.26.2017 - 8:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Quick fix: the second and third cautions came out a lap earlier than I originally said, on lap 87 and 133 respectively. That gets it to a nice even 20 caution laps. 11. oldschoolracing519 posted: 10.17.2017 - 1:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #28 Zane Smith had to start the race from the rear because of being late to Tech Inspection before Qualifying 12. oldschoolracing519 posted: 10.17.2017 - 2:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Crew Chief updates #22 - Paul Andrews #78 - Kevin Reed #77 - Chad Bryant #28 - Mardy Lindley #25 - Dave Leiner #9 - Adam Lowe ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
