Smith and Graf were bumping and sideswiping each other off turn 4 and all the way down the frontstretch to the checkered flag. 8. joey2448 posted: 04.28.2018 - 12:27 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The biggest crash of the day came on the first attempt of a two-lap dash, and happened on the initial last lap. The #57 of Bryan Dauzat got turned and spun up the banking in turns 1 and 2 on the final lap, but ARCA kept the green out and the field kept racing until they got to turn 3, when the #8 of Chase Purdy got hooked into the wall very hard (in a crash eerily reminiscent of Dale Earnhardt's fatal 2001 crash at Daytona) by Gus Dean. Bo LeMastus and Codie Rohrbaugh also got swept up in the wreck, with Rohrbaugh's windshield being ripped off, as was evident under the ensuing red flag. 9. This move does worry me a lot. Great race though. 14. Natalie Decker has THE highest expectations in ARCA, but she too, has bad luck. So I guess having the lowest expectations makes you feel more motivated. 15. Geoff22 posted: 04.28.2018 - 8:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) So glad I got to witness this one in person! All the side-by-side racing with only a few accidents (by ARCA standards) was impressive. 16. Kentucky Wildcat posted: 04.28.2018 - 8:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Anyone else besides me notice how horrible the coverage was for this race? The caution would come out you would see on top of the screen and the announcers in the booth wouldn't even catch it what seemed to be forever. Then on the final lap, the spin out that took place, the play-by-play guy yulled 'Caution' and took a few seconds for him to realize 'Oh wait, we're still racing' 17. If the race had gone on for another overtime, it might've been too dark because, it was getting dark on the track. You could tell since the lights of the safety trucks were pretty bright. 25. RaceFanX posted: 04.28.2018 - 10:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Joe Graf, Jr. was late choice to drive Chad Bryant's #77 Big Tine Ford in this race and he ALMOST won it. Graf wasn't told he would be in this race until about a day before it was run, the team initially hired him only to drive six short track races this season. Given how the team and Graf had an infamous disagreement over the radio at Nashville it's great to see the relationship improving. Dave Mader III scores a top-20 as he runs his first Talladega ARCA race since 1991. Putting the gap into perspective the last time he raced here in this series he finished second...behind Chargin' Charlie Glotzbach. 26. I have to wonder if they originally entered a Ford in this race, in addition to being listed as a Ford in some race results the FS1 broadcast identified the car as a Ford in its graphics several times during the race. 27. nascarman posted: 04.28.2018 - 12:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Driving the race car home from this race, James Hylton and his son were killed in a traffic accident in Georgia. NASCAR abandoned that in the Late 90's/Early 00's and it's hurt them dearly. 30. rm posted: 04.28.2018 - 3:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 34 owner - Shawne Merriman 06 sponsor - Great Railing/Carpenetti's 8 sponsor - Bama Buggies/RZR 9 sponsor - Alabama Institute for the Deaf & Blind/DK-LOK (cool deal with the AIDB again this year, they had a pit crew member from the Institute on the team this week) 11 sponsor - Ashville Propane/Clifton Trucking ARCA is officially listing the finish as a 0.00 second MOV, with the 0.0029 figure being the unofficial but far more accurate margin via FS1. The 48 team arrived at the track with a new gray nose on their Daytona car and barely passed tech in time. They missed all of practice and qualifying but got the car ready to go not long before the race. With a shorter field, ARCA likely let them slide and start anyway but they pulled in during the pace laps. Unfortunately, the status of the 48 team is even further up in the air now. They've suffered many setbacks in the past year and this horrible accident might have finally been the final straw for them. Three weeks until the next races, the homecoming at Toledo and the long-awaited return to Charlotte. 31. In regards to @41 as well, it always tends to irk me to see posters talk about the next race on the schedule before the next race is up on the site to be commented on. But I understand it, and in some ways it is what it is. But to post about a race on the page of that race from the previous year, I don't know, that just seems so witless and moronic. 45.
