He pulled off with just under 10 to go but inexplicably came back our with maybe 5 to go and finished the race. Can def vouch for the total smoke screen however. Car smelled horribly as it blew up over the last 50 laps or so. 6. 34McDowellFan posted: 05.21.2018 - 12:20 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Zane is on a roll this year, but Creed's consistency has kept him in first in points. Chase Purdy gets a 2nd place finish after a scary wreck at Talladega only a few weeks ago. Joe Graf Jr. gets a decent top 3 finish after losing the Talladega race by mere inches Chandler Smith continues to impress, getting his 3rd pole in 3 races and leading almost half of the race. Bret Holmes gets his first top 5 after a rough start to the 2018 season Brandon Grosso gets his 3rd top 10 of the season, which is good, but Austin Theriualt had 4 top 5's at this point last year. Natalie Decker scores her 2nd top 10 of the season Travis Braden gets his 2nd top 10 in a row Harrison Burton makes his first ARCA start of the year and ends up 9th, 3 laps down, which is not what I expected from him Thad Moffitt earns his career best finish of 10th in his 6th start Carson Hocevar gets 11th in his first ever start for a brand new team, not bad Grant Enfinger had power steering issues late in the run and ended up back in 12th, definitely a disappointing finish for him Tony Mrakovich makes his 2nd start of the season and finishes 13th. Mrakovich made his Xfinity series debut in April at Richmond Eddie Fatscher makes his ARCA debut and struggles to keep up with his teammates. Mike Basham finishes 15th, which is a decent improvement over his 20th starting spot Brad Smith, now the owner of the #48, scores a season best 16th place finish, which has to make the team feel just a little bit better after the tragedy that took place only a few weeks ago Rick Clifton finishes 17th. Not much to say Sheldon Creed, the points leader, ends up failing to finish the race and gets his first non-top 5 finish of the season, but his consistency from the first 4 races has kept him in the points lead Riley Herbst has issues and finishes in 19th 45 laps down, another bad finish for the team, but yet they're still 3rd in points Gus Dean continues his bad start to 2018 Christian Eckes in his first race back after his 1st career win starts 3rd and leads 2 laps, but can't finish the race I believe that both Con Nicolopoulos and Will Kimmel were start and parks 7. rm posted: 05.21.2018 - 1:38 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) 69 & 06 were indeed start and parks 15 status - crash 28 status - crash 32 status - crash 78 status - power steering 11 sponsor - Ashville Propane/Ohio Ag Equipment Enfinger was oiling down the track pretty badly during the last 20 or so laps, but was never black flagged. He finally pulled onto pit road with 2 laps to go and didn't cross the line at the checkers. It got bad enough that Rick Clifton spun in the oil in turn 1 just after the checkered flag fell. Glad to see Brad Smith & co. back at the track. Brad didn't buy any of Hylton's stuff, at least not as far as I know. He used the same car they brought to Nashville and Salem, which is one of his old 26 cars from 2008-09 or so. Had a surprising amount of speed too. Carson Hocevar wrecked very early on and was 6 laps down barely 40 laps into the race. Clearly they had some good power as Hocevar wound up just 5 laps down by the end of the race. Hopefully we'll see Hocevar and the KBR team run again soon. Lots of drivers pushed their tires in this race and wound up laps down or wrecked because of it. Harrison Burton, Christian Eckes, Riley Herbst, Gus Dean and Sheldon Creed were among the big names taken out of contention due to wrecks. The race was marked by some long green flag runs and prior to the last caution, only Zane Smith, Chandler Smith and Chase Purdy were on the lead lap. There were only 2 seconds between the three of them too. Chandler Smith had the fastest car all day but faded badly on the last restart and finished a lap down, while Zane and Purdy were evenly matched on the last run. It was another fantastic ARCA short track race. 8. rm posted: 05.21.2018 - 5:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Chad Bryant withdrew the #22 Ford before the race. That car is again entered at Charlotte as a TBA, not sure if they'll find a driver for it or not though. 9. 34McDowellFan posted: 05.21.2018 - 8:12 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Withdrew #22 - TBA - Big Tine - Chad Bryant 10. rm posted: 05.22.2018 - 4:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) First caution - laps 5-9 - 55 spun turn 4; free pass - none Second caution - laps 14-19 - 35 spun frontstretch; free pass - none Third caution - laps 70-77 - 15 accident turn 2; free pass - 52 Fourth caution - laps 92-98 - 12, 28, 32 accident turn 2; free pass - 27 Fifth caution - laps 102-106 - 12, 18, 46 accident turn 4; free pass - 25 Sixth caution - laps 167-175 - debris; free pass - 52 (multiple drivers cut tires within a couple laps of each other - the 18, 25, and 28 among them) To the rear - 48 - missed autograph session; 06, 69 - driver choice Chandler Smith was the guy to beat for about three quarters of the race, but under caution he lost the sway bar after driving off the track. Between that and a spark plug issue, he fell off dramatically during the final run and wound up finishing as the first car a lap down. 11. I spoke with him during the session for about 2 minutes, talking about James Hylton mostly, and got a picture with him that day, he was definitely there 20. The big hit sidelined Purdy for three weeks to ensure his back would heal, and thankfully for Purdy that was the same amount of time in between Talladega and Toledo. Purdy had to sit out a test at Toledo, so MDM brought in defending ARCA champ turned driver coach Austin Theriault to shake down the car. Theriault specifically mentored Purdy within MDM. While this may have been the strongest run of his ARCA career, he had to settle for second behind teammate Zane Smith...who was utilizing Theriault as his spotter. Theriault was going to get to go to victory lane if either Smith or Purdy won the race. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
