All of his starts have been for the Venturini team with this as his first outing in the #15. Nice to see Craftsman back in the motorsports sponsorship game. 3. He was out of tires after his spin but I missed the official call) 5. Wat posted: 06.16.2018 - 4:50 pm Rate this comment: (1) (8) 48 was in the way all race. Time for Smith to go 6. Boy, would ARCA jump for joy again if they ever get back close to 30 for their short track races. But even with that said, the racing in and around the top 10 is still good in this series. 8. And yea that unification between ARCA and the East series is looking good right now. 9. They'll be back for the next race with Schrader driving. 10. #BowmanNation #TKNation posted: 06.16.2018 - 6:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Schrader didn't show? Chandler had the field covered for the final green flag run of over 60 laps, lapping most of the drivers left and winning by over half a lap. I believe the final margin was over 9 seconds. Sheldon Creed survived a rough qualifying effort, a spin and some classic short track beating and banging to finish third. He'll maintain the championship lead, though Zane Smith got a few points back on him by finishing second and leading a chunk of laps early. Natalie Decker made the strong home-state crowd proud by rallying from a starting spot outside the top 10 to run in the top 5 for most of the race and finish 6th, her best-ever short track run. The heat of the day got to her post-race, though, as she was overheated and dehydrated after getting out of the car - even after being doused by bottles of cold water. Toni Breidinger made her ARCA debut to much fanfare and struggled a bit at first to adjust to the car. She made it to the end, just 2 laps down, and posted a very solid tenth place finish. Tommy Vigh was also making his ARCA debut and had a rougher go at it. Vigh spun twice and appeared to be stuck out of gear after the second spinout, requiring a push from the safety truck that resulted in him going many laps down. Darrell Basham made a surprising re-appearance behind the wheel of the Kimmel car at Madison. He had been on the entry list twice already this year, but the longtime ARCA competitor whose age matched his car number made it to the grid for the first time since Salem last fall. It was only a planned 1-lap deal, but it was nonetheless great to see him climb in the car one more time. Ken Schrader Racing was noticeably absent, as they opted not to run the race with an unsponsored car. Ken Schrader himself will be back in the saddle this coming week at Gateway, but their future is uncertain now outside of the races that are being sponsored by Drydene. The field was light at Madison, as could be expected at some of the faraway short track races, but the racing was excellent as always and 13 cars came into the race all right on top of each other time-wise in practice and qualifying. 12. It was the haves and the have nots. They had an 1 hour autograph session before the race and I got tons of great pictures of the drivers. They all were very accommodating to the fans posing for pictures, signing cards, and talking. The #18 of Riley Herbst pulled off in the last few laps after being one of the contenders all race long. His LF brakes were glowing for much of the race. Many of the fans came to see Natalie Decker race and she had a huge line during the autograph session. She grew up almost 4 hours away and raced at different tracks in Wisconsin on the ARCA Midwest Tour for a few years. She had won in a touring truck series race at the track earlier in her career. 15. ARCA is so slow at posting stuff it seems. 16. rm posted: 06.17.2018 - 10:54 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Pretty sure Braden, Chandler and Zane were the only ones that led laps. A full race report should be going up Monday or Tuesday but if it does not I'll try to do a breakdown based off of the video of the race. 17.
