Self & Herbst tangled going for the lead, with Herbst getting the worse end of the deal. Self crashed on his own not too long afterwards. Herbst returned to make a few laps and pass Self and Sear (who crashed in a different incident) in the order. Eckes was spun out on a restart, possibly by Tullman? It hindered both cars significantly. Not sure what the deal with Decker was, but they spent a bunch of time trying to fix her car as well leading to her finishing many laps down. Mason Mitchell had a roller coaster day in his return to the seat at his home track. They changed a ton of parts after practice due to a vibration but couldn't solve the problem. He did not complete his qualifying lap and they swapped the motor out. Mason charged from the back to pick up his best ARCA finish in 22 months. 2. rm posted: 07.08.2018 - 11:14 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Margin of victory - 0.236 seconds The lone tape-delayed ARCA race of 2018. It won't be broadcast until August but it sounds like it was an exciting show. First caution - laps 60-66 - 32 accident turn 2 Second caution - laps 70-75 - 18, 55 accident backstretch Third caution - laps 81-86 - 55 spin turn 4 Fourth caution - laps 95-100 - 69 accident turn 4 Fifth caution - laps 106-110 - 15, 40 accident turn 4 Lap leaders and lucky dogs will have to wait until the race airs on tv, can't find that data. 3. Instead of bringing her back in to fix the problem, the team left her on track, wearing down the sway bar. Granted, they only had a limited amount of tires, but they could have taken a 1-2 lap loss to fix the mistake. 4. rm posted: 07.08.2018 - 12:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I believe their regular crew they rent was pitting the 51 Cup car at Daytona. Could be an explanation for their mishap. 5. RaceFanX posted: 07.08.2018 - 12:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Fans with Benefits 150? Rare to see a NASCAR-owned stock car series running alongside them (Granted, the NASCAR Truck Series occassionally does). 7. rm posted: 07.08.2018 - 12:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This is the second year in a row the race has been titled as such. Fans With Benefits is the name for the Iowa Speedway season ticket program, I believe. 8. Also, ARCA was only purchased by NASCAR earlier this year, and the acquisition won't be complete until 2020. 9. JSPorts posted: 07.08.2018 - 1:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The only other time I can think of that NASCAR runs support races at IndyCar weekends is when the trucks run Texas the night before IndyCar. Are there other examples I've forgotten about? Maybe some Xfinity standalone race or something? 10. Corey posted: 07.08.2018 - 1:59 pm Rate this comment: (4) (0) The trucks have been supporting a form open-wheel racing for years now. From 1999-2002 they supported the CART series at Auto CLub Speedway. 11. #BowmanNation #TKNation #JRNation posted: 07.08.2018 - 2:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Don't forget that the Las Vegas September truck race was in 2011 an INDYCAR support race and was moved to October for that year. Also we won't see Texas be a support race for Indy since it will be moved to March/April 12. JSPorts posted: 07.08.2018 - 2:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I like it, because it brings more fans to those races while not attracting Cup drivers. I think if the Xfinity Series ran more companion races with IndyCar, it would make for better racing because there wouldn't always be Cup guys in the field. Many people have suggested that having more Xfinity standalones would help drive away the Cup drivers, which is true. However, the important factor isn't necessarily that the race be a standalone as the biggest event of the weekend, but rather that it be featured in a weekend at a different location than the Cup stars. Pairing Xfinity or Trucks with IndyCar or another form of motorsport (IMSA?) could have the right effect. 13. Austin posted: 07.08.2018 - 2:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) With NASCAR purchasing ARCA does anybody think ARCA will release full standings and Race Results with lap leaders and cautions as soon as the race is over much like the top NASCAR series? It's such a pain for stat guys like me to wait weeks after to get some of those details. 15. The short answer is we don't know. If it's really that much of a pain, just keep track of it yourself when you watch the race. It's not ideal but ARCA doesn't exactly have the budget and the resources of the Cup series. 17. Smith 16 I believe Herbst and Graf were the only other drivers who led laps. The unofficial report said 7 drivers led laps, but the only other driver I can even find a hint saying that they might have led would be Burton possibly leading 1 under caution, which would still leave one more driver leading a lap. I know for certain Eckes, Clifton, Basham, Brad Smith, Sear, Dean, Doheny, Con and Peterson did NOT lead laps. Everyone else is up in the air for another month or until someone better informed fills us in. 06 sponsor - Ocean Pipe Works 23 sponsor - Great Railing 48 sponsor - Copraya Web 55 DNF reason (updated) - radiator 23.
