At leastit provides something to laugh at while peeking at comments during last night's race. 5. Of course, the East race was supposed to be run on Friday and the ARCA race a month ago, but they both ended up on the same day because of weather. He ran the East race in the morning and the ARCA race at night. 7. Timothy Eklund 19 43 13 96 99 fan posted: 10.07.2018 - 10:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (3) @4 freedom of speech 8. She's literally Danica 2.0 at this point 11. JSPorts posted: 10.07.2018 - 6:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) It's hard to make that comparison since Danica never ran in ARCA (well, only ran one race.) Decker does have more top-5s in stock cars (2) than Patrick (1) in 26 starts (compared to Patrick's 254.) 12. rm posted: 10.07.2018 - 9:31 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Never ceases to amaze me how much hype and/or hate young drivers receive from just a small sample of lower series races. So glad that every kid out there is either a future Cup champion or *literally* the worst, most overrated driver out there! Come on people... Anyway, off my soapbox - Christian Eckes dominates at LOR to pull off his 3rd win of the 2018 season. This race, of course, was supposed to be run as part of the Brickyard weekend in September but was the first event to be postponed after the rains swept through the Indianapolis area. That would be why so many drivers and teams couldn't make it back. Notably, Chase Briscoe was in Dover for the Xfinity race so he didn't have a chance to defend his 2016 Kansas win - to date that's his last start in ARCA as he went out both a winner and a champion. Scott Melton opted to have some more Kimmel help this time around and slapped a 68 on his car for the return visit here. His day never really got going though as he smacked the wall in practice, never turned a qualifying lap, and ultimately pulled in before he could even string a couple of green flag laps together. Aside from a single run-in between Harrison Burton & Kaden Honeycutt and a pair of dubious debris cautions, this race was pretty much green most of the way once it finally got going. IRP, being as wide and flat as it is, has seen very few cautions recently outside of the initial return race in 2011. That's not to say it was a necessarily clean race, though - many drivers acquainted themselves with the outside wall under the green flag and received damage. Travis Braden, Tyler Hill, Natalie Decker and CJ McLaughlin found themselves among that crowd. The long green flag run finally ended when the cleanup crews had to check for debris from Braden hitting the wall, burning several drivers on pit strategy. Thad Moffitt, Braden, Decker, Michael Self, Gus Dean, and a few more drivers hanging onto the back of the lead lap wound up trapped multiple laps down because of the untimely caution and never were able to get back on the lead lap after being relegated to taking the wave-around. Braden and Decker lost time in the pits as well due to long pit stops - Self and Decker came in nearly nose to tail but Self's crew got him out nearly half a lap sooner, and that was the difference in him getting an extra lap at the end of the race over a trio of drivers stuck on lap 197. All in all this was Eckes' race to lose and he never really left that in doubt. Also should be mentioned that this was probably the first time all year where Chandler Smith never looked like he was the man (kid?) to beat at some point. Even at Iowa, where he never led, he was closing up to Sheldon Creed's bumper during a late green flag run. Chandler was easily the biggest surprise in ARCA in 2018 as he quickly established himself as the driver to beat at the short tracks, despite being relatively unknown before 2018. 13. The #10 went behind the wall for about 20 laps before the team was able to return the car to the track w/ power steering. 15. The last ARCA short track race only had a total of 16 cars with no where near the quality of fields from the 2018 season. 16.
