Majeski's first ARCA win came in his 11th start in the series and as noted it serves as a nice bounce back after his struggles in a part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series campaign last year. Everyone knew he could drive and now he's got the trophy to prove it. Points leader and polesitter Michael Self had the night's dominant car but he brushed the wall late than stayed out when everyone else pitted. His rivals blew past him on new tires afterward but Self held on for a top-5. This race was run as a Thursday night special after the completion of qualifying for the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series Coca-Cola 600. The race was aired live on Fox Sports 1. 3. Majeski, Creed, Dean, and even Brett Holmes looked like they could win. Pretty good race. 4. However, when Con Nicolopoulos spun onto pitroad, Self's #25 started trailing a lot of smoke under yellow, it was worrying but when they went green the smoke cleared up a little. Self then smacked the wall from the lead and brought out the yellow, however the damage wasn't bad enough to bring him into the pits so he stayed out, however on the restart he got eaten up due to his older tires, and fell outside the top 10. On the final 1 lap dash Self restarted in 10th and ended up 5th. It should've been a wire to wire win for Self, but a top 5 after restarting 10th with 1 to go will help him in the Championship 9. Once he started rolling smoke, though, the 21, 18, and 22 were all able to hold their own against Self. And after 2 poles in his first ~100 stock car races, Self has now gone back to back at Toledo and Charlotte. It was an eventful day before the race even started. Thad Moffitt spun not even 5 minutes into practice but never hit a thing. He avoided the apron and spared the front valence from damage. Devin Dodson spun not much later and then nosed it into the wall after that. The Vizion crew worked feverishly to put a new nose on his car. In qualifying, Willie Mullins spun and made hard contact with the inside wall. They somehow fixed it, thanks to the composite body, and he ran the whole race, albeit slowly. CJ McLaughlin then scrubbed the wall when qualifying resumed, and his right side damage was apparently bad enough that his car was withdrawn before the green flag. Defending series champ Sheldon Creed made an appearance as GMS ran their first ARCA speedway race in 4 years. Look for him to run a few more races this season. Christian Eckes had to go to a local hospital post-race after inhaling some fumes following his early-race contact with the wall. He was 2 laps down very early and rallied back for an impressive 7th. 12. On the official results sheet, McLaughlin was listed as a DNS in 25th place. Withdrew: Cole Glasson, #32 Sparrow Ranch Chevrolet (Kevin Cywinski) Glasson had an incident in the test session a couple weeks before and Win-Tron opted to put their preferred driver, Gus Dean, in the car instead while Glasson's team regrouped to attempt Pocono instead. 21. oldschoolracing519 posted: 06.12.2019 - 7:46 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Crew Chief updates #25 Shannon Rursch 22. Smith had been entered in 2018 but after an incident in practice left Smith with a part failure, he was packed up and on his way back up to Michigan well before the race ever started. With the 2020 ARCA race at Charlotte tentatively being moved to the Kentucky Speedway, Smith looks to still be the only driver to be able to make that claim for at least another year. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
