Nothing extremely notable performance wise, other than pole sitter Ty Gibbs crashing out Congrats to Chandler Smith! 2. Third caution - laps 146-150 - 18 accident frontstretch; free pass - 5 Fourth caution - laps 163-167 - rain; free pass - none The steel bodies go out not with a bang but with a whimper as Ben Peterson crashes his steel car in practice, forcing the second Peterson entry to go home early, and Dick Doheny suffers major damage in an accident during the race. Brad Smith parks his steel car before halfway. If anyone's watched the series closely the last few years, I would have to say it's pretty fitting that Mile Basham in the family #34 was the last steel car standing, especially at a race in the state of Indiana. Oh Joe Graf. Had he not ran over Ty Gibbs, there's a good chance he could have been the leader when the rains came, and he and crew chief Chad Bryant would have looked like geniuses. Instead he eventually causes a yellow for Gibbs' ailing car and Graf finishes 10th, the last car on the lead lap. 4. Congrats to Hailie Deegan for earning her first ARCA top 5 finish in her 5th series start. Veteran Bobby Gerhart has finished between 11th and 16th in all 7 starts this year but can't quite get a top 10. 5. He's also got 2 DNQ's in Xfinity in top equipment this season, and neither was due to rain or a crash, he just flat sucked in qualifying both times 6. It is a 20-race schedule and includes the following major changes: - Dropped: Pensacola, Nashville, and Toledo - Pocono and Salem change from 2 dates to 1 - 2 road courses have been added: Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen - Also added: Phoenix, Bristol, and Memphis - IRP has been moved from October to July, to accompany the NASCAR weekend in Indy 11. PucciMan posted: 10.10.2019 - 3:42 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) The positives on the new schedule are they add not just one road course but 2 and adding Bristol and Memphis. The negatives are Pocono and Salem dropped a race and they dropped Toledo from the schedule and that's the main thing I'm mad about. It was bad enough when they dropped Winchester from the schedule but dropping Toledo is a HUGE mistake. Toledo is ARCA's version of North Wilkesboro but the ARCA owned by NASCAR thinks it's too small and not relevant for the future generation racers. I will miss that track on the schedule. 12. rm posted: 10.10.2019 - 3:54 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) That's not at all accurate regarding Toledo. In the announcement video last week, ARCA president Ron Drager stated Toledo would be on the ARCA Menards Series East schedule next year. The track is not losing a race. Furthermore, from what I've heard, that decision to switch it to the East schedule had nothing to do with NASCAR and was strictly ARCA's decision. 13. Mile501 posted: 10.10.2019 - 6:18 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @11 - Pocono was almost certainly going to lose one of its two races anyway, since NASCAR will only visit Pocono once next year instead of twice. 15. PucciMan posted: 10.10.2019 - 7:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @14 I kind of figure it would. Had IndyCar not dropped Pocono from the schedule, ARCA would've shared the weekend with them. 16. Aren't these tracks something like 2 hours apart? I wonder if the weekend schedule would permit any drivers to do the double, or if it will allow fans to attend both events. It seems like poor scheduling to have two major races the same weekend, 2 hours apart, if the fans cannot attend both. Hopefully it is at least scheduled so that after Road America qualifying there is a multi-hour gap for fans to make it to the ARCA race, as I'm sure the majority of the crowd that would typically attend this race would otherwise be at Road America. 17. rm posted: 10.11.2019 - 10:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Madison race will be Friday night while the Road America race is a late afternoon start on Saturday. I don't see any reason why fans couldn't go to both races. The potential conflict you're mentioning, Road America qualifying, doesn't exist because Xfinity qualifies the morning of the race. I doubt any drivers would try to pull double duty, the overlap between the two series isn't very large. Riley Herbst and Joe Graf are the only two drivers who have pulled an ARCA/Xfinity double duty weekend this year. 18. Anon posted: 10.11.2019 - 10:50 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Thanks, good to know that it'll work out then. It just seemed like a mistake to have them on the same weekend considering most of the fans that would attend the ARCA race would surely be at Road America. Hopefully it works out in their favor and actually generates a larger crowd by pulling in the people that would have otherwise only gone to Road America. We'll see how it works out. From a drivers perspective, this would give a unique opportunity to pull a double, and it would be fun if NASCAR encouraged it somehow. You'd think a local racer such as maybe Josh Bilicki would want to consider it. Anything to help the car counts for the ARCA race I'm in favor of anyway. 19. I went to Irwindale on Saturday night and the Cup race on Sunday. If I had wanted to, I could have gone to the Xfinity Series race as well and then still made it over to Irwindale in time. The Irwindale stands were packed, so I imagine some fans did just that. 20. PucciMan posted: 10.18.2019 - 5:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Tonight's ARCA race at Kansas won't be on TV.
