Also, it's Shigeaki Hattori, not "Shige" 2. Hardly anyone seems to call him by his full first name Shigeaki anyway, he's always referred to as Shige/Shiggy 4. Anon posted: 06.30.2020 - 6:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) The reason for ARCA currently being a lot smaller in terms of grid size,is because when NASCAR took it over, they are transitioning ARCA to a points-fund system, instead of a weekly purse system. Basically,90% of the money awarded to teams comes at the end of the season, depending on where the team ended up in owner point standings. Before that,ARCA went off of a weekly purse system, where 90% of the money was awarded weekly after each race. Yes,the grid size is smaller, but the target for ARCA is to slowly grow in terms of more full time teams, instead of having a ton of part time teams. 15. rm posted: 06.30.2020 - 6:49 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Yeah that's not completely accurate - it had been set up in a system like that for years before the series was acquired by NASCAR, stuff like the golden A plan predates the acquisition by a good margin. The biggest payouts have always been at year-end. 16. possum posted: 06.30.2020 - 7:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @13 - and 4 Hoosier tires(*) will set you back around $900. Mile501 posted: 06.30.2020 - 7:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Those purse amounts are on par with top-level NASCAR races from about 50 years ago. Surely ARCA (NASCAR) can do better than that. 18. Doesn't excuse the small purses still, but like I said, that's not brand new or a change at all to the system 25. JSPorts43 posted: 07.01.2020 - 12:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I wish they'd award all the money based on race finishes. Payouts at the end of the season incentivize bad teams to compete in all the races. If those teams focused on 5-10 events and spread the money around for those races rather than all 20, they'd probably be more competitive. 26. rm posted: 07.01.2020 - 12:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) With these lower divisions as delicate as they are right now, discouraging entries isn't really a good idea at all. So lets try this again with ARCA owner points page here and adding the points from the last 2 races. Owner Points: 25 - 170 18 - 170 15 - 157 20 - 154 23 - 146 4 - 135 - I question this bc it does not match the driver points so I am not sure if the 4 had a penalty at Daytona or Phoenix. Should be 153 points but I am going off the owner points here. So she could have had an 18 point penalty for something, not sure what. 12 - 130 69 - 128 46 - 127 17 - 117 11 - 112 10 - 110 22 - 107 06 - 100 32 - 72 (3 attempts) 48 - 68 (3 attempts) 21 - 66 (2 attempts) 1 - 0 (0 attempts) 42 - 0 (0 attempts) 91 - 0 (0 attempts) 1, 42, 91 will most likely draw their spots due to no points so 18-20 could look a little different. Now this could be totally wrong so dont quote me 100% here lol 34. Yazzy3223 posted: 07.02.2020 - 12:04 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) @33 they are doing normal qualifying 35. Mile501 posted: 07.03.2020 - 8:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @38 - I am trying to figure that out as well. I also noticed that Tanner Gray's driver point total doesn't match the #17 owner point total. There is a 12 point difference there, along with the 18 point difference between Hailie Deegan and the #4 that you mentioned. The points match up correctly for all other full-time drivers. Both teams are owned by David Gilliland. I wondered if there was some number swapping going on, but that doesn't seem to explain it either (in other words, it's not like the #17 gained the 18 points that the #4 lost). There were two #4s and two #17s at Phoenix--could that have something to do with it? But if so, I can't figure out how. 42. Gibbs and Self both had problems while running up front, plus other contenders like Dollar and Griffith also spent a lot of time in the pits with issues. Taylor Gray looks really fast for a kid who's barely 15. 50. rm posted: 07.04.2020 - 1:02 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Was told 15 had a belt problem, though as to which belt exactly gave them the problems I do not know. They were not happy when he made a lap to come back to the pits under the stoppage for the second break, they parked a West guy who was driving under the red flag at Sonoma just last year, though in this case it wouldn't have mattered because Dollar would have finished in the same spot either way Not sure about the 22, thought I saw them adding water under the first break which would suggest overheating, which is plausible because I don't think they had any of the Ilmor crew come over the wall to look at it like when the 18 had their problem. That one was weird, I guess they had an alternator belt snap and when it was flying around in there it hit some part of the actual motor, ending his night. Good showing for the DGR bunch, Deegan and Gray were both fast all night, and Moffitt snuck into the top five there for them at the end. When's the last time we had an ARCA race with just one Toyota in the top five? Or just three in the top ten? 51. rw posted: 07.04.2020 - 1:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Geez this Chandler Smith kid is incredibly good so far. 52.
