NASCAR needs to put some money into this series before it collapses. 2. Seems fine [at least, not the massive existential threat some people are making it out to be] as long as it doesn't badly impact TV revenue. We're Y1 into this soft merger experiment, plus getting more competitive cars out onto the track matters more than padding the field with very slow teams anyhow. Like, hopefully the #21 team can use their SCS success to springboard into becoming a full-time national series team? 5. Mile501 posted: 07.29.2020 - 6:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) If the field size remains at 16 cars, this will set a new record for the smallest ARCA field Brad Smith has ever competed against. The previous record was 17 cars, set just a few weeks ago at Kentucky. 6. RaceFanX posted: 07.29.2020 - 8:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The small fields are saddening but I get a kick about how everyone is pulling for Brad Smith to just get a top-10 week in, week out. It adds an intersting subplot to every race. 7. DeeganFan posted: 07.29.2020 - 8:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @4 All three ARCA series have had falling car counts for a while, and any team other than Venturini or Gibbs is probably losing money on the operation. As for the 21 team, I'm not sure how long they are going to stay for. Maybe they will move up next year, but I think they would no longer field an ARCA car when Mayer moves up to the Trucks. 8. Still more favorable than what happened to her teammate Thad Moffitt though, that was rough. The car count was light enough before two of the competitive cars (46 & 74) were in the pits barely 2 minutes into the race Great run for Mayer though, really came alive not long after the first break. After a couple close calls it's nice to see him finally get it done here. 38. dw posted: 07.31.2020 - 11:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Can anyone explain to me why Mayer gets 48 points in this race? Based off of his Instagram it looks like he's crewed some races for the team this year. I suppose that's the beauty of this level of the sport: it's a big enough stage that your family can watch you race live on television, but small-time enough that your average joe from your local short track is just a few right moves away being able to go out there and suit up for an afternoon. 42. 1995-Subaru-WRX-Sti posted: 08.01.2020 - 1:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "@34 She's in the top 5 in points. She had a fast car and drove up from 9th to 4th over the course of a green flag run, then promptly threw it all away and fell back to the end of the lead lap over the course of the next two restarts. You can't afford to undo nearly half a race of progress in a handful of laps. 48. Mile501 posted: 08.01.2020 - 8:02 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I guess #47 answers the question about what happened to Deegan. That may also explain why she looked strong in practice but qualified poorly, if she does better on long runs than she does on restarts or qualifying runs. In NASCAR's past, that type of skill would have been great to have. Unfortunately, in today's era of stage racing and double-file restarts, she really needs to improve in that regard. 49. TheLongShot posted: 08.01.2020 - 8:05 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) ARCA is also as shallow as it's ever been right now from a field strength standpoint. She's 4th in points in a year when only five people have driven all the races. That's not good unless the top three consists of Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott. 50.
